Release of Oregon Lawyer
<snip>

"The fingerprint that set events in motion was lifted from a bag of detonators discovered in a stolen van parked at a station from which three of the bombed Madrid trains departed. The bag contained detonators similar to those used in the attack that killed 191 and injured more than 2,000. Spanish police were unable to identify one of the fingerprints on the bag and circulated it to other countries. The FBI linked it to Mayfield, who previously served in the military."
<snip>

It was the US FBI that insisted this man was the culprit. The Spanish investigators even told us later where the print came from but the US still insisted that they had the right man. (Think Hatfield).

The information that we may get from those we abuse cannot possibly be reliable. The way we torture people they will say anything to stop the torture and humilation.

1. This isn't the first time that's happened.
There was a situation in Britain where a detective's fingerprint showed up at a crime scene but it wasn't his. fingerprints aren't abolute.

2. I'm just sad we doubt all this stuff now.
I'd like to be able to think we can trust the government. I'm not really so sure that voting Kerry is going to change things all that much.
