What if we ALL started calling our Congress members and ask them:

1) What is your position on the torture at Abu Graib?
(presumably they're going to denounce it)

2) Then ask what EXACTLY is (your representative/senator) personally doing to make sure that this has stopped, won't happen again, AND make sure all the perpetrators will be held responsible and accountable and punished appropriately?

Flood them with phone calls to DO SOMETHING!!! I don't even know if there are Red Cross (or other monitors) over at the prisons...sure seems like there should be!

on edit: adding Capital Hill Switchboard Number 1-800-839-5276 (they'll transfer you to the office of any Rep. or Senator you name)

Let's get calling!!!

1. Great idea
EVERY politician need to take a public stand, for or against torture. You would think we wouldn't have to ask, but yes, we have public officials and politicians openly promoting torture.

2. Great idea - I'll do it today
By the way, you're an intelligent person, you seem to make grammar mistakes like there shouldn't be.

I'm contacting my rep and Senators today!!! :loveya:

My letter to all three:

You need to publicly condemn this Administration and its "Defense" (War) Department and sexually deviant and morally reprehensible "Intelligence" Departments for what they've done to the people of Iraq and Afghanistan.

If you do not publicly condemn them and demand that our troops be removed then you are a complicit and willing participant in the imperial fascism being practiced over there now.

5. Very nice

I was thinking along those lines myself....those that don't publically denounce this and demand some sort of remedy for this situation will be complicit.
