Looking for reliable, honest news sources
CNN and MSNBC are obviously not it. Which news sites do you all frequent to get your daily scoop?

1. Jeez, I go to all this trouble
To make these posts, and you're STILL looking for reliable news sources?!

Insist on genuine gratuitous posts. Accept no substitutes.

2. Well, for one thing
anything you see on the "boob tube" is, by definition, not credible IMO. I suggest some written sources like the NY Times, The Christian Science Monitor, and LBN on DU.

5. Seriously, though
Yeah, yeah, quit laughing.

Get your information from a variety of sources. Don't just accept the word of one publication or one station. In this age of instant information, you can check and re-check reports from several different sources without even leaving your desktop. What was left out of the Times' report? Why did MSNBC include that sentence?

Read with a critical eye; if something strikes you as not quite right, wait a news cycle or two. Often, the real story comes out a couple of days later; it just doesn't run on page A1. More like C12.

9. Get your news online
After Dean said not to trust the TV news, I started getting my news online.

NY Times, Washington Post, Google News, they are all good.

7. Information Clearing House
Everyday I receive a list of articles (from various sources) and I usually find some of those articles being discussed on DU.
I'm not sure of url, but if you google...and sign up for daily delivery, it is well worth it.

10. You might check this out
talkingpointsmemo.com

Not comprehensive, but very well written and insightful and I've found it to be very accurate over time.
