1. I found this...
http://www.telecomasia.net/telecomasia/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=87425

"One of America’s most enduring gifts to the new Iraqi government is to be a new e-governance service being developed by Microsoft under the Bush-Cheney policy of US support for corporate friends. I guess the best we can hope for is that they don’t introduce a new policy of pre-emptive elections."

Is this what you are looking for?

3. In thinking back, wasn't that part of the contracts given to SAIC?
Edited on Sun May-23-04 11:35 AM by Spazito
Those contracts were no-bid weren't they?

Edited to add: I found this, although it doesn't directly say voting machines, the voting process could certainly be part of this contract I would think.

"Iraq contracts
Since February 2003, SAIC has been in charge of the Iraqi Reconstruction and Development Council, a Pentagon-sanctioned group made up of Iraqis that is effectively functioning as the country's temporary government. The senior members of IRDC hold positions at each of 23 Iraqi ministries, where they work closely with U.S. and British officials, including L. Paul Bremer, head of the Coalition Provisional Authority. The Council's official task is to rebuild the structures of a government that are expected to eventually be handed over to an independent Iraqi authority. Members of the IRDC are officially employed by SAIC."

5. SAIC
Edited on Sun May-23-04 01:53 PM by God_bush_n_cheney
very interesting!

Here is what Lynne Landes says

"SAIC is a behemoth military defense contractor with a shadowy, if not tarnished, reputation, while former SAIC executives also have ties to VoteHere. Why is that important? VoteHere is a growing company, which aspires to provide cryptography and computer software security for the electronic election industry."

http://www.onlinejournal.com/evoting/082003Landes/082003landes.html

VoteHere again.

and this GEM

TruVote Voter Validation System

http://www.truvote.com

TruVote says: After casting a ballot on the touch screen DRE, a printed copy of the ballot becomes available for the voter to view through a protective window. Additionally, as an option, each voter can receive a paper receipt with a verification number to independently ascertain that his or her ballot was, in fact, received, recorded, and counted. "This is accomplished by calling a toll-free number, accessing a Web site, or viewing the appropriate official public document after the election." ala' Votehere?

Woah...

Edit: Ms Ruderman is touting truvote...verification ala' votehere? Say it isn't so.

12. Uh...that's not the worst problem
"This is accomplished by calling a toll-free number, accessing a Web site, or viewing the appropriate official public document after the election."

Wouldn't this allow tracing of the vote? Secrecy issue? Just match that vote up with the phone number or web address?

8. Hmmm look here

A pattern is developing here.

"All of these companies are not just defense contractors. Accenture has many non-defense related government contracts. So do all of the rest. What they were shopping around for was partners with the smaller voting machine companies who need to have a partner to handle a voting machine contract. The Avante's and Accupoll's and Truvote's of the voting world all have "big brother (not in an Orwellian way)" partners that can foot the financial bill to bid on these contracts. If anyone of them win a statewide contract (on the order of $50-150 mill), a big partner has to finance the deal. "

Here is a Demo of vote here. Big deal the "reciept" matches what I see on the screen. No proof it was counted that way.

10. Remember the SAIC connection to Hart
Andy, keep in mind this stuff that was revealed last Fall. SAIC was said to be looking at an investment in Hart Intercivic. The Cleveland Plain Dealer story seems to no longer be online, but may be archived in other sites. Also, there were Rumsfeld, Bechtel and Watergate connections.

Ohio replaces voting machine reviewer
09/30/03
Julie Carr Smyth
Plain Dealer Bureau

Columbus - Secretary of State Ken Blackwell has replaced a firm slated to help conduct the security review of Ohio's newly certified voting machines - after his office discovered that the firm had a financial interest in one of the machine makers.

The decision followed his office's discovery that an arm of Science Applications International Corp. had promised to make a $5 million investment that would benefit Hart Intercivic.

There was also this:

http://www.williambowles.info/ini/ini-0105.html

David Kay and the SAIC
Until October 2002 David Kay was Senior Vice President for the San Diego-based Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) when Kay leaves SAIC and becomes a 'senior fellow' at the Potomac Institute for Policy Research, and then is appointed to head up the Iraq Survey Group by the CIA, although it's rumored that he still holds considerable stock in SAIC, which if true, means he stands to benefit considerably from the US occupation of Iraq and the vast contracts awarded to SAIC. According to a report in the AsiaTimes by Katrin Dauenhauer and Jim Lobe,

Of course SAIC was one of Rummie's pals:

And there was the Watergate connection:

In September there was this info posted to DU, but I can no longer find the post:
> "SAIC Appoints Dahlberg CEO"
> by Russ Walker, WashingtonPost.com Staff Writer
> 9 October 2003 - Newsbytes News Network
>
> This article went on to talk about black box voting concerns and
> briefly mentions Bev and the book, but leads with this:
>
> "General Dynamics is losing Kenneth C. Dahlberg to Science
> Applications International Corp. Dahlberg will take over as CEO of the
> employee-owned contractor, taking the spot now held by company founder J. Robert Brewster.
> Brewster plans to stay on as chairman until July 2004, the company said.
> Dahlberg was executive vice president at General Dynamics and has a
> long career in the government contracting arena. "

> Okay, who is Kenneth Dahlberg is?

> RENT "ALL THE PRESIDENT'S MEN"
>
> He's the guy whose $25,000 check to the Republican National Committee
> ended up in the bank account of the Watergate burglars.
>
> Now he runs the SAIC.

13. Adrienne Brandon...Who is she? What do we know about her?
Edited on Mon May-24-04 01:05 AM by God_bush_n_cheney
Adrienne Brandon, chief financial officer for TruVote, says only weeks ago Gibbs asked her: "‘If something happened to me, would you carry this on?'" She says, "Even with him gone, we will."

Chilling.

14. More on her
"Brandon explains that since Gibbs' demise on a local Interstate, she, Chief Technology Officer David Sterling, the TruVote board of directors and supporters outside the company have pursued many issues: E.g., TruVote, already preparing its marketing campaign, hopes also by mid-summer to secure certification of a stronger TruVote v. 2.0 via an independent testing lab. Simultaneously, Truvote is addressing possible restructuring in the wake of Gibbs' death. These and other actions should enable TruVote to operate freely and seek investment capital, more aggressively."
