Won't we be hoping for the electoral map to turn red this time?
I've been under the impression that states that are won by the incumbent turn blue and states won by the challenger turn red. Since Gore was incumbent VP, his states were blue, but Kerry's will be red.

Or, since everyone has made such a big deal of the red state/blue state differences, will that change this time?

1. They'll use whatever people easily identify
Since the "red state/blue state" difference has come to be known as a Republican/Democratic or a Conservative/Liberal categorization, that's the way it will be played from now on.

2. Have you got a source for that?

I mean, is it confirmed policy to be followed, or merely your brilliant speculation? ;-)

6. You're right by at least half
I should have said, "They'll probably ... "

The media usually follow the trends, but let an editor or a producer get an idea in his/her head, that the traditional way has to be upheld, and it's "Hey, Spanner, meet the Works!"

I, BKL, HEREBY PREDICT that the major news broadcasters -- ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN, Fox, and the overseas press such as the BBC, Agence France-Presse, al-Jazeera, NHK, Deutsche Welle, etc. -- will, for the most part, use the red = Republican, blue = Democrat color scheme.

As Gosh is my witness.

4. I hope so, I like being blue
It would be hard to see GOPers with our color.

5. I am pretty sure that they used to go blue for the incumbent
but I think it would be better to have blue be Dem and red be Repub. People are used to this now.

7. Most talking heads refer to the red states as the Pub, blue, Dem.
They have been using this reference for quqite a while now, and I find it almost impossible for them to change now. It's almost become the language vernacular.
