Kerry: 'Did the training wheels fall off?'

President fell off bike Saturday.. Kerry told reporters in front of cameras, 'Did the training wheels fall off?'... Reporters are debating whether to treat it is as on or off the record... Developing...

Yes it's the sludgereport but . . . :shrug:

1. funny how it's ONLY the sludge report
if he said it in front of cameras, we'd have seen it by now.

Pretty funny though if he did say it. :-)
There must be a way to check with the Kerry camp.

5. badum bum. clang. I guess I'd find it mean if the GOP did it to him
if he took a spill on a bike or segway or armchair. But considering he possesses normal equilibrium and can even stay up on a snowboard, it probably isn't likely.

It's kind of funny double entendre because of the "training wheels" comment regarding handover of Iraqi sovereignty on June 30.

but.....have a sense of humor folks.

16. No he fell down as skiers sometimes do
Do skiers fall off their skis? It is obvious you have never participated in the sport.

good for Kerry! I was hoping he would make a "nuanced" comment about this latest bit of sensational "headline news"--CNN was disgusting , treating this earth shattering event, as if it were a great world wide happening that the, most likely drunk, idiot fell off a mountain bike and got boo boos. I would like to see a picture of that mountain bike and Bush riding it. Anyone ever see it?

Good for Kerry. That is the kind of instant response I like.

8. Bush: Iraq can 'take training wheels off' (AP)

http://www.pjstar.com/news/topnews/b32uqb2n046.html

<snip>

Several lawmakers said Bush reiterated his determination to stick to a June 30 transfer date.

"He talked about 'time to take the training wheels off,'" said Rep. Deborah Pryce, R-Ohio. "The Iraqi people have been in training, and now it's time for them to take the bike and go forward."

<snip>

Kudos to Kod478 for finding this:

Told about Bush's mishap, Kerry said, "I hope he's OK. I didn't know the president rode a bike."

10. Bush is a stud?
Let's find out. Here's an idea. Kerry should challenge him to a bike race. I've seen Kerrys road bike and I've seen him ride it. I used to race and I can tell you...he's been riding road bikes for a long time....and he knows what he's doing.

He should challenge George to a debate....when George declines he should challenge him to a bike race. It'd be fun to see AWOL chicken out on both counts.

18. I've skied for 33 years.
If I don't fall a few times per outing, it's because I'm not pushing myself.

It's cause you ain't havin' any fun.

Broke my leg on a fall into rocks two years ago.

Sadly, my bet is Shrub was posing, not riding.

23. I've been mountain biking for about 18 years, and
had lots of cracked ribs and a broken collarbone. BUT I doubt Dubya was doing any REAL riding. I'm sure he could do a face-plant on a driveway!!! What was he doing? Training for the Ironman???

25. Those scrapes are more likely from concrete than road rash..
..the kind you get from a slip when getting out of the hot tub..while trying to save the drinks in your hands..scraping the chin on the bottom of a pool..something like that.

Maybe he was playing in the driveway, trying to master that darned sedgeway again, drink in hand.

27. That should be on the record!
That's good. When the challenger can openly mock the incumbent and score points, the incumbent is doomed. It's a good line too, being a reference--probably intentional--to Bush's idiotic assertion that the training wheels are ready to come off in Iraq. :thumbsup:
