Why do we spend more time knocking down
digging, prodding, dousing, the 'opponent' rather than building up the strengths in our own. I see post after post dogging Arnold. To me it seems like a lot of wasted energy. The man has made his way as an icon of strength---strength in physical agility, strength in emotional agility (listen to him talk about his father), strenght in family and marriage...the list goes on.

This race isn't about governorship, once again it's about strength--the strength of the GOP to win California. Everyone is playing by the same playbook and they aren't seeing the winning edge.

Everyone is so concentrated on Arnold and what he can bring to the state of California, but what are they saying that Gray Davis can do to keep it. I want Gray Davis in, but he needs to fight this thing on his merits and show how he has been screwed by Enron and other things gone wrong in that state. JUST finding dirt on the opponent won't work this time.

1. Because it's easier to tear something down than build something up.

2. It's tough to be enthusiastic about a DLC Democrat such as Davis
Before Davis won his election I was promoting Davis by telling DUers that he was term limited so at least his DLC self wouldn't be in office but for another term. :(

Also, I don't live in California and I know very very little about Bustamante, except that from what little I have read about him he would be a pretty decent governor.

3. because it works
and because there's so little 'strength' to build on. because nobody understands the policies, or not enough somebodies to matter. they just want to hear a few things that sound nice (while being consistent with their own ideology) and have somebody who looks like they should be elected.

or somebody who would be really funny. funny's good.
