I see why Chimpy's daughters didn't want him at their graduations

Unidentified guests of Barbara Bush's graduation celebration walk past demonstrators on the Yale University campus shortly after President Bush (news - web sites) arrived at the event in New Haven, Conn. Sunday, May 23, 2004. Barbara is the daughter of President and first lady Laura Bush, who were attending the event. (AP Photo/Gerald Herbert)

1. Wow- thanks for posting. Evening news gave no hint of this going on-
All I saw on the news was footage of Bush and Laura getting off the plane. She looked spiffy but he looked absolutely awful.

Did it occur to the photographer that people viewing a photo with protest signs in the background might want to know what the signs say?

Maybe he or she took more photos but the paper just ran one and it's not his or her fault.

The sign on the left seems to call Bush a "thief," but it's unclear if that refers to the 2000 election or Halliburton or Medicare propaganda.

The sign on the right probably says "Torture is a crime against humanity. Shame on the US," but I don't know.

That's how I read the protest sign:

Executioner Bush
Like Father Like Son
Murderer Thief

Another green sign being held up says:

Uproot Bush
Plant Justice

3. Bless their hearts, seems all bases are covered ....with these
kinds of broad protests, good ppl being everywhere he or his disciples go-(large or small) should mean they CANT CONTINUE to be ignored, downplayed this way.

Thanks for posting this Catwoman, because it's the first I heard of it, HOPEFULLY won't be the last.

(just saw the doomed wedding video on New England News Network-I hope more media SCREAMS this injustice from the rooftops.)

6. Thanks for posting this Catwoman.
I had an idea that there were probably protesters, but, of course, the media is still by and large going along with the Bushista regime of no negative news about that family.

8. Yikes. I'd say that's uncalled for.
Unless I'm mistaken, they're protesting at the daughters' graduations? Why not protest somewhere else, and not direct this sort of thing (which would otherwise be completely legit) at his daughters, who have nothing to do with his policies?

9. um -- I think they are protesting *, not his daughters
I believe that info is in the cutlines.

* was in Connecticut -- that's where this demonstration took place.

I'm glad and PROUD that people come out to voice their displeasure of Bush -- REGARDLESS of where he shows up.

I understand his daughters will be out campaigning for him -- the sooner they realize what they will have to experience in that capacity, the better.

11. Where, exactly, should they protest?
Whenever AWOL makes a public appearance, demonstrators are forced into "1st Amendment Zones" miles away from the event.

13. Thanks CatWoman....I can understand now why they didn't go to the
graduations. Thank you to the people of CT. for protesting for all of us.

Bill Clinton was welcomed at Chelsey's graduation....what a difference 4 years makes.
