DU this CBN poll
Edited on Sun May-23-04 08:32 PM by ck4829
Fellow DUers, I think it's time we go on the offensive and DU the Christian Broadcasting Network's polls. The Christian Broadcasting Network's poll is "Do you believe President Bush should tap into the nation's strategic petroleum reserve as a means to lower escalating gas prices?". I voted yes, we have plenty of oil in the so-called strategic reserve and our Democrats in Congress have wanted Bush to give the oil to the people. You can delete your cookies to vote again and pressing the Enter key rapidly will increase your vote. By the way, while you're there please read the story A Christian Author's Push for Radical Intolerance and catch a glimpse into how the Christian Right view non-Christians.

1. I won't vote in this poll.
It is to simplistic. We are facing an energy crisis and must end our dependence on oil. No drilling in AN WR.Moving to more fuel efficient cars and renewable energy is the answer. Releasing fuel from the reserve or drilling will never make us independent of OPEC.

3. Apparently, Christians are not intolerant enough.
From the website in the original post:

"Christian author and speaker, Ryan Dobson, calls himself totally, radically intolerant, and he’s calling on other Christians to be the same way. In fact, the title of his new book is Be Intolerant Because Some Things Are Just Stupid. Dobson joined Lee Webb on The 700 Club recently to discuss his belief that Christians have become too tolerant in today's society."

Can you believe that? Christians are TOO tolerant?!? Holy cow. I see a global religious war coming on as the Christians and Muslim ramp up their mutual intolerance of each other.

8. what a load...check it out
LEE WEBB: Well, you certainly found a provocative title for your book. Is it your contention that Christians have been too tolerant?

Ryan Dobson: Absolutely. And Christians are the only ones asked to be tolerant in this culture. The homosexuals are not asked to be tolerant...

Homosexuals are not asked to be tolerant? :wtf:

Tolerant of what? Gay bashing, hate speech against gays, murder?

I have never met a gay person who was intolerant of someone who is not gay. Have you ever heard of a group of gays attacking a straight classmate in school? Gays beating a straight guys head in with a bat in a parking lot? Gays screaming to straights that they are evil and going to hell?

We are all asked to be tolerant of others in this country. It's in the Constitution.

Guys like Dobson take the perverse view that being tolerant of the rights of other American citizens, regardless of race, creed or sexual orientation, is intolerant!

another one for the 1984 file...

5. I voted NO
I think this "crisis" is far from temporary. We are dependant on a limited resource. This means we will run out. A logical response to such a dilemma would include...

1. Keep strategic stores of this resource to make sure that in emergencies the country can fuel its army, etc.

2. Actively pursue alternative resources and substitutes that will last longer or are replenishable.

3. Discourage consumption, especially in the case of gasoline, which damages the environment.

6. I agree
The only reason Bush hasn't already released oil from the reserve is because he is certain that the Saudis will pump more in coming months. I'd say it was outlined pretty clearly by Woodward's revelations.

7. I applaud your effort, but no way in hell will I go to ROBert$on's site.
He's a mentally deficient bastard, and the epitome of true evil. Might as well say it: fuck him and everyone who supports him.
