Ever had a panic attack?
I have, just once. I bet everything I had founding a dot-com. It is still in business, but I took a beating in the process. Anyway, during the raise up of our seed capital, after several trips into Wall Street and fancy restaurants schmoozing people and realizing I was sitting on a few million dollars worth of stock (wallpaper)...I started questioning everything, what the fuck am I doing, I'm in way over my head, dear god can pull this off...started freaking out. Full on hyperventalating, on the floor, freaking out.

And that was because I thought I'd screwed up betting my job on a crap shoot like a dot com. This guy may well go down in history as the guy that brought the world to its most disastrous war ever.

Does anyone think Bush is really so inhuman that he doesn't, at some point, sit there in some closed room, drink a bottle of Nyquil, and curl up in the fetal position? He HAS to be saying "Oh jesus h. christ, this is not at ALL what was supposed to happen?!" I mean, I don't. I think he's basically an evil a man as has ever held office. But still...I can't help but wonder...is he really so isolated that he doesn't have any idea what hell he hath wrought?

1. But...
For a panic attack, you need to have emotions, and not to mention, a working brain.

2. He is so connected he has nothing to worry about.
He will get bailed out one way or another. Rich people in power who were spoiled don't have a worry in their mind (until its already too late),

4. I've had a couple,
Though mine don't seem directly related to anything... ?

I don't understand how anyone can be so morally and emotionally bankrupt as to be able to do the things this administration does, and is ok with. Lots of connections and soft drugs, agreed. Plus a lifetime of being bailed out and told that nothing is your fault...

5. Sociopaths do not have a conscience:
Antisocial Personality Disorder (APD) is practically synonymous with criminal behavior. It's so synonymous, in fact, that practically all convicted criminals (65-75%) have it, with criminologists often referring to it as a "wastebasket" category. Psychologists consider it an adult version of juvenile conduct disorder. The main characteristic of it is a complete and utter disregard for the rights of others and the rules of society. They seldom show anxiety and don't feel guilt. There's really no effective treatment for them other than locking them up in a secure facility with such rigid rules that they cannot talk their way out. A full list of APD traits would include:

Sense of entitlement; Unremorseful; Apathetic to others; Unconscionable behavior; Blameful of others; Manipulative and conning; Affectively cold; Disparate understanding; Socially irresponsible; Disregardful of obligations; Nonconforming to norms; Irresponsible

whereas the DSM-IV "clinical" features of Antisocial Personality Disorder (with a person having at least three of these characteristics) are:

1. Failure to conform to social norms; 2. Deceitfulness, manipulativeness; 3. Impulsivity, failure to plan ahead; 4. Irritability, aggressiveness; 5. Reckless disregard for the safety of self or others; 6. Consistent irresponsibility; 7. Lack of remorse after having hurt, mistreated, or stolen from another person

Sociopathy is chiefly characterized by something wrong with the person's conscience. They either don't have one, it's full of holes like Swiss cheese, or they are somehow able to completely neutralize or negate any sense of conscience or future time perspective. Sociopaths only care about fulfilling their own needs and desires - selfishness and egocentricity to the extreme. Everything and everybody else is mentally twisted around in their minds as objects to be used in fulfilling their own needs and desires. They often believe they are doing something good for society, or at least nothing that bad. The term "sociopath" is frequently used by psychologists and sociologists alike in referring to persons whose unsocialized character is due primarily to parental failures (usually fatherlessness) rather than inherent features of temperament. However, this may only describe the "common sociopath", as there are at least four (4) different subtypes -- common, alienated, aggressive, and dyssocial. Commons are characterized mostly by their lack of conscience; the alienated by their inability to love or be loved; aggressives by a consistent sadistic streak; and dyssocials by an ability to abide by gang rules, as long as those rules are the wrong rules. Some common sociopathic traits include:

Egocentricity; Callousness; Impulsivity; Conscience defect; Exaggerated sexuality; Excessive boasting; Risk taking; Inability to resist temptation; Antagonistic, deprecating attitude toward the opposite sex; Lack of interest in bonding with a mate

10. Yeah, that's what he started out like
years of heavy drinking and subsequent Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome have worsened even this lousy mix by distorting his memories to the point that he has to confabulate because he doesn't really remember what has transpired earlier in his day.

Bush is so incredibly limited in outlook and ability that I find it impossible to hate him. I pity him. I want him GONE, but I pity him.

6. I've wondered about this too.
But I have concluded that the worst it gets for him is that he sees it as a great big inconvenience, a hassle. He knows someone else will work it out for him one way or another.

The thought that he might one day be massively blamed for anything has not occurred to him. And if it did, he would not really care, since he doesn't really belived that other people are real.

And beyond that, the idea that he had caused immense suffering -- past present and future -- to thousands (or hundreds of thousands) of people is an idea that simply will not form itself in his "mind." The suffering of others is of absolutely no importance to him.

8. How do you explain the rest of his administration though? Not one of them
seems in the slightest fazed by all they have wrought. What about Condi, Colin, Rumsfeld, Asscroft and that stone faced "what's his name" head of "Homeland Security."

None of them seem to have any anquish and none look like they are losing sleep over any of this. What the hell do they know that we don't that they are just too cool over all of this?

That's my worry more than that of the Chimp...who is so clueless it doesn't really matter whether he's a sociopath or not...it the totality of his administration which is truly the EVIL EMPIRE!

9. American culture
rewards sociopathic personality types. CEOs are expected to be ruthless and cunning, how else can a person pay attention to the bottomline and not worry about the people affected by their decisions?
