Conventional Wisdom gives * another down arrow -- three weeks running

When you think the news from Iraq couldn't get worse, it somehow does. And the 'best military in the world' doesn't have enough bulletproof vests.

Bush

Jobs are up, but few notice amid more Iraq nightmares and $2-plus-a-gallon gas. Where are your Saudi friends?

Kerry

Still seeking momentum, and idea of delaying official acceptance until after convention is politically stupid.

Chalabi

Neocon Iraqi-exile stooge finally busted in U.S. raid. Another symbol of the clueless Iraq strategy.

M. Moore

Frenchies go crazy over anti-Bush diatribe at Cannes. Made a bigger splash than even Alexandra Kerry's dress.

1. I agree with their assessment on Kerry too

to delay acceptance of nomination is "politically stupid" and will take away much needed momentum--a delayed speech several weeks after the convention will not give him the bounce a convention speech will. I predict they will discard this idea.

11. Depends on what he does with the extra $$$...

If Kerry can really rake in some extra cash during the interim and can put it to good use, it may be worth the apparent foolhardiness of the choice right now.

If they either don't get much cash inflow.. OR.. if they don't do anything productive with it, it could be a bust.

It's just one of those political gambles one has to make. Hope whatever the decision, it turns out in his/our favor.

As everyone knows, the Cannes jury and audience is international. What do they mean by "Frenchies"? If I'm in France am I considered a "Frenchie"? That's new to me.

9. Jeanine had the CW editor for Newsweek on her show...

and brought up how they gave her a "down" arrow immediately following the conquest of Iraq, calling on her to "apologize" for her predictions that the whole thing would not go over well.

Jeanine was deferential to the guy. Her co-host was NOT. Basically, he kept asking the guy from Newsweek if they are responsible for the "conventional wisdom". The editor kept saying, "WE don't print this to reflect OUR views, it's merely representative of conventional wisdom -- you know, the people whose opinions make up conventional wisdom."

It was the yellowest of journalism exposed for all to see.
