3. Maybe not as many as you think, because
the only people who watch him are the ones who love him (and a few masochists).

The people capable of changing their opinions aren't paying attention.

5. +5 for this week
But next week, unless there is some major Good News, look for a 7-10 point drop, down to 40-43%

6. What really made me sick was all the
wild cheering and clapping like he was the second coming of Christ or something, instead of the worst president ever and the cause of more damage to this country, domestically and internationally, than ever before, and instead of the lying, ignorant, treasonous murderer he really is.

17. Good point!
And it helped Shrub's handlers to perpetuate his illusion that the military just loves him and thinks everything is just hunky-dory, when nothing could be further from the truth.

23. Actually, Army War College published study crticial of Bush
They're not the blind toads one might suspect from the name.

----------------------------

A scathing new report published by the Army War College broadly criticizes the Bush administration's handling of the war on terrorism, accusing it of taking a detour into an "unnecessary" war in Iraq and pursuing an "unrealistic" quest against terrorism that may lead to U.S. wars with states that pose no serious threat.

The report, by Jeffrey Record, a visiting professor at the Air War College at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, warns that as a result of those mistakes, the Army is "near the breaking point."

It recommends, among other things, scaling back the scope of the "global war on terrorism" and instead focusing on the narrower threat posed by the al Qaeda terrorist network.

"he global war on terrorism as currently defined and waged is dangerously indiscriminate and ambitious, and accordingly . . . its parameters should be readjusted," Record writes. Currently, he adds, the anti-terrorism campaign "is strategically unfocused, promises more than it can deliver, and threatens to dissipate U.S. military resources in an endless and hopeless search for absolute security."

22. Agreed. Bounce 6.
Edited on Tue May-25-04 12:04 AM by HFishbine
Although my reasons might be that part of the population just wants to be reassured, and Bush sounded reassuring tonight. Up 6 by the end of the week, back up to around 47.

I predict a 4-5 point drop by next weekend. Wake up people, nobody is watching this speech. It's not on the Big 3 and Fox's entertainment channel isn't carrying it live either.

10. I'm not sure he'll get a bounce
He said absolutely nothing new. BTW, I'll bet a lot of people aren't even watching. I just talked to my roommate's dad, who was listening to it on the radio, and he said it was pure BS.

21. " Next poll = 39%" This is one I want a 30 per center then he's done

Rove can't save this sociopath if he falls into the 30% range.

They will have to resort to a phony Terrorist attack or something similar to boost his numbers & even then that's no guarantee.

I think the Bush Administration is going to go down to the largest electoral defeat in American History. IMO

16. Bush only got a bounce 3 times in 40 months...
This speech will do nothing for him.
A week from now, he will be where he is now or down a point.

He bounced up 36 points on 9/11.
Up 12 points when he invaded Iraq.
Up 6 points when Saddam was captured.
Every other month he declined.

He has fallen 12 points since December.
He is currently at an 11-point poll average of 44.6

Expect him to fall to 37% by Labor Day.
