Poll shows new low on approval on Iraq
Edited on Tue May-25-04 07:22 AM by Cannikin
Support on nearly every aspect of the Iraq conflict has declined...

Public approval of President Bush's handling of the conflict in Iraq has dropped to its lowest point with growing fears that the United States is bogged down and rising criticism of Bush's handling of the prison abuse scandal, according to the latest Washington Post-ABC News Poll.

Support for Bush on virtually every aspect of the Iraq conflict has declined in the past month as the administration has battled insurgents and grappled with the expanding investigation into the treatment of Iraqi prisoners at the Abu Ghraib prison.

The poll underscored the political challenges that confronted Bush as he went on national television last night to defend his policy and outline the steps that will lead to a transfer of governing authority to a new Iraqi government on June 30.

Bush's overall job approval rating declined to 47 percent, the lowest the Post-ABC News polls have recorded since he took office, with 50 percent saying they disapprove. Just four in 10 Americans gave the president positive marks for his handling of Iraq, the lowest since he launched the conflict in March 2003.

1. 47%..........
of people still think he's doing a good job at running the country. Who ARE these people? In what type of fantasy world do they live? Do they not read the newspapers, watch at least the evening news, visit any websites on the internet besides porn? How can these people be so un/misinformed?
This country has reached a point where it's beyond the point of redemption. The country that I grew up in, the country that stood as a beacon of freedom and fairness has been so corrupted and co-opted that it is doomed to self destruction as so many other great civilizations have been in the past.
I've lost faith in the human race.

2. Listen to C-Span in the morning and you'll find out
who these people are and how they think...or don't think.

I listen to Washington Journal every morning, and every day, no matter what the question of the day, the response on the Pub line is I support my President 100%. When they are asked why, they say things like, he's a good man, he's a moral man; or he's a strong man who will kill all these people who hate us and want to kill us.

I have yet to hear ANYBODY from the Right say I support him because I wanted to go to war, or I got a great benefit from his tax cuts and I don't care about the less fortunate, or any other policy reason.

I also don't expect to see Shrubs #'s got down much further becasue there are a % or people who will blindly support him, no matter what he says or does, and no matter what events take place.
