Bush* speech was an insult to every American.
Edited on Tue May-25-04 09:19 AM by spanone
Just when the country needed to hear leadership from this ding-dong, he get's up and reads for a half hour and it's the same old tired shit.. Not a shred of passion in his voice, not a hint of contrition. I can't wait to pull the lever for Kerry. Can't wait!!

1. Of course it was.
The pheul could read the DC phonebook and make it insult the intelligence of any reasonable American. It's his special, god-given gift.

2. I have never seen him speak extemporaneously...
EVER. He always is reading from script.
The few comments he has ever made (while walking to helicopter, etc.) have generally gotten him in trouble.

4. The big bad
war President speaking about war from the war college. We are all so impressed. Too bad we are losing the war.

8. A few notes about the War College
The War College is anti-Bush.

All along, they have been outspoken in their opposition to the war in Iraq, which they consider a disaster.

The head of the War College called Condi Rice "a jerk."

His Chimperial Majesty wants us to think that the military is 100% behind him, but that is simply untrue. Opposition to Bush and his NeoCon masters runs very deep. They had to get rid of authentic experienced strategic advisors in the Pentagon because they advised against the war -- the NeoCons replaced the people who actually understood things with people who are loyal to Bush but incompetent.

5. why do you think they had it the last night of sweeps?
they didn't want anyone to SEE the speech, only hear analysis and clips fed to them by Faux.

7. Speech very short on substance,
but he did a decent job in delivery. Sure, no passion, occasional inappropriate smirks, etc., but no major gaffs. True Bush believers loved it. The Bush has really been working on his delivery (I'll bet he drilled for weeks on it), but I want to see the real Bush in a nonscripted debate. I won't hold my breath.

Mindless void open to suggestion.

16. I always watch for those smirks.
I also loved that he touted the 15 NATO allies who have 17,000 troops on the ground there. That really sounds like international cooperation, doesn't it? NOPE, we're not unilateral.

10. It was exactly what I expected
Listening to him try to inspire makes my head hurt. When words come up that he can't pronounce he throws in a cliche.

11. Bush Jumped the Shark last night
All but the most loyal Bushistas are saying he failed to achieve his goals in the speech last night. Speaking in front of the Army War College which has blasted Bush's Iraq war plan, Bush didn't even address any of their concerns. Everyone is saying that Bush seems to think that by saying we aren't an occupying force it makes it true, but if the same number of troops are on the ground July 1 as there was June 30 - what has changed?

This really was his last chance to make a rhetorical case for his illogical, irrational Iraq obsession and he blew it. Now, all that he has left are dirty tricks.

14. On NPR this morning...
....I heard a reporter indicate that threats of terrorism against Western targes had INCREASED since the Iraq debacle. WE KNEW that, but it was at least good to hear it on the radio (even if it was NPR only)

God (or who/whatever higher power you believe in) help us all..
