CNN's Noon Report with Blitzer is Trashing Bush big time! Report from

Military Analyst whose written a book calling for a New Plan in War on Terror is trashing "Powell Doctrine" saying it's wrong and it's been given too much emphasis. Says we need to be changing emphasis to working "Unilaterally" rather then coming in with massive troop strength and fire power and then "moving on." He got to the problems of "Why to the Arabs Hate us" which he says is we need to have examples by bringing in other countries so the Terrorists lose by seeing a unified World against their violence. there was more....

Then Ben Wedeman the CNN reporter who has been in Iraq forever reporting is home and he's saying Baghdad is NOT SAFE. That many Iraqi's are trying to get out of the country to the gulf and that the roads out of Baghdad are so unsafe reporters can't get out. He says he has almost no freedom to get out to do his stories which is very different from just after the Invasion where reporters could pretty much go anywhere. I don't think he will last long at CNN..just like Peter Arnett..he is telling the truth about what's going on and it isn't good.

Now they have a debate between David Frum (Bush Speech writer PNACER) and Jamie Rubin (Clinton) about Bush's 5 Point Plan. An actual DEBATE on CNN!

I really am beginning to believe that the press has had enough of *. All they have to do is actually BE fair and honest and we win!

Kerry's plan. People have said that for quite a while. I am so glad that the press is finally picking up.

I hate when they say "there is no difference in their plans" because there was quite a difference between Kerry's and Bush's plans a couple of month ago. In fact, Bush didn't even have a plan.

The press gave Li'l Georgie an awfully long honeymoon, and then really went "kid gloves" after 9/11.

But, i wonder if many of these folks, disagreeing with policies, and having issues with the disagreeable nature of the administration haven't been laying in wait.

The relationship with the press is strained, at best. The Bush Gang takes, takes, takes, expects, expects, expects. Gives nothing back!

I have begun to wonder it the press wasn't turning on him more than a year ago, but held back until mid-election year. Sort of way of showing the politicos and power brokers that the 4th estate still has power. "Treat us like dirt, and we will get you back, for sure!"

Sort of a conspiracy theory, i guess. But, it sure looks curious.

1.) Do you have any children of draft age or within 3 years of draft age? Is your child's life worth chasing "terrorists" with a gun instead of finding the root causes of the problems? But then you can't shoot your way out. Generals & Majors never have any fun without a war.

2.) What type of vehicle do you drive? Probably a Hummer or some gas hog who is probably blaming them damn A-rabs for the $2.10 he's paying. He sure sounds like he's from that "We're America, we're superior" school...who dare those Iraqis keep our oil under their sand!

3.) Whose your current employer? Other than shilling a book that surely will be bulk bought by some right wing think tank to prop up sales...who pays your salary and supports your lifestyle that you can so cavillierly throw around our military like it's some toy set. He probably makes a lot of money whenever a shell falls, a house bulldozed or a prisoner tortured. The gall of this bastard.

Unilteralism died with the Flat Earth Society. This war monger doesn't care about our security or long-term welfare, he's ready to kill, kill, kill as the only answer. Hopefully someday, scum like this will be in a dock in an international court and he'll explain his situation to the proper judge of his actions...not the court of public opinion.

impression it seems from reading some of your posts. He wasn't a right winger, and his criticism of Powell "Doctrine" was that to combat terrorists you can't just go in as Americans and Bomb the Hell out of a Country in the excuse of turning it into a Democracy and not expect that to have terrible repercussions for us around the world.

He felt that we needed to use a plan which Clinton seemed to use which was to involve many countries "equally" so that we don't have to use American troops and the burden for costs and lives is shared. His point is that if you want to defeat terrorists you need more international numbers in a show of force and alliance rather than Bushes go in and Kill and Destroy, creating MORE terrorists.

He actually was very good and had some interesting ideas that most DU'ers would be excited about. Totally different from what the Repugs Foreign Policy is and more aligned with Clinton's but with some better tweaks.

Seeing Jamie Rubin was a reminder of what a great foreign policy team is ready to go to work...Holbrooke, Dennis Ross, Sandy Berger and others who know how to pick up a telephone and speak to a French or German or Chinese or Russian diplomat and start working our way out of this mess.

I've been hearing so much of this "we need more force" as the "answer" to this situation and an absolute sham of a diplomatic effort. I think we can both agree what a disaster this regime has been in virtuall all areas of our foreign policy; thus ultimately undermining the long-term security of this country, and how we're getting deeper and more isolated as time goes by. As a parent with a child a little more than a year away from 18, damn right I'm concerned with anyone throwing around "soldiers" like some playset or video game.

I think we got our guests mixed up, KoKo...I totally agree with the one who came on just before Rubin & Frump as to how we involve NATO to internationalize this and then have a U.N. High Commissioner oversee the return to true Iraqi sovereignty (if one ever existed). It's time we get rid of these morons who are attempting to impress "American ideals" that haven't worked here (when I hear Repugicans talk about democracy while they steal elections and stifle political dissent in this country is the ultimate hypocrisy) and just let those people figure how best to live in peace.

I think our "confustion", if it is, reflects the media's all-over-the-place stance right now as the public's mood on this invasion is truely polarized.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me hell it even sounds downright militarily sound. Limit the number of casualties and don't enter in where you aren't SURE what you are facing and what will happen there.

This is a great test of any decision to use the military as is the "Dover test"-Are you willing to see flag draped coffins landing at Dover AFB? Well they got around that one huh?

It was developed with Wes Clark in the 80's to avoid another Vietnam. It was in place for Gulf War 1. These fucking PNACers have their heads up their ass.
