Poll question: Will you give President Kerry a chance?
Edited on Tue May-25-04 04:10 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
Incoming Presidents often enjoy a 'honeymoon' period when first taking office. The press, the public, and even the opposition are normally a little less critical in the early days of an administration.

If you are solidly behind Kerry, you're no doubt excited for his first 100 days -- but if you are highly critical of, suspicious of, or just plain unhappy with Kerry -- will you give him a chance to prove you wrong?

1. Yes, unless he makes a really lame VP choice. (nt)

16. Yep
...that's exactly what I was going to say. Already, Kerry's endorsement of the PPI/whitewashed PNAC foreign policy, including the apparent acceptance of whatever barbarism Sharon feels like doing, is beyond disappointing.

Assuming Kerry doesn't pick a total DLC dickweed as VP, I'll give him a reasonable amount of time to prove me wrong before demanding his impeachment.

2. Of course.
I gave Bush a chance to prove that he was a moderate.
I'm very leery of Kerry but I hope that he will surprise me.

3. I will happily give him a chance

But I will protest him if he starts the draft, which is unlikely though.

...That issue aside, it pisses me off when some people on here say they'll protest him from the get go, or they'll vote against him in '08 if they don't get every single bill passed in Congress. With a hostile RW Congress, does ANYONE think Kerry will be able to pass everything?

4. I'll be emailing him regularly with ideas on what to do while in office
I hope all progressives do, because if he only hears from whiny right-wingers who are _sure_ to write in, we'll be in trouble. We can't let him think that they are the majority.

Don't let the neocons and freeps bully the Kerry White House. Make sure you stay in touch with Kerry (and your Senators and Reps at all levels).

5. NO. He's already made his pro-war position clear.
He deserves a "honeymoon" about as much as Donald Trump deserves a tax break.

7. SO you are going to be prostesting "DINO" President Kerry on 1/21?
Unless Kerry does something really sutpid, like bring back the draft, or caves in to the Repugs and lets their agenda slide through Congress, then I don't see what the point is. And like I said in my last post, Kerry will not be able to pass every bill he proposes because of DeLay and Frist.

9. Does something really stupid? Like voting for the IWR?
And, promising to have the troops out of the "death zone" in only 4 years? Like talking about bringing NATO in to help with the subjugation?

How "really stupid" does he have to get?

11. What did Kerry actually say?
Edited on Tue May-25-04 04:42 PM by Feanorcurufinwe
And, promising to have the troops out of the "the death zone" in only 4 years?

Did he really say that? The only words quoted in the AP article are the words "the death zone" -- what did Kerry actually say? Do you trust the media to accurately characterize his words? If so, why do you trust the media?

6. The right wing media will be on him the second after he takes...
the Oath of Office. Limbaugh, Hannity, Faux News...they'll have the attack machine on full throttle.

I'll give him all of my support as long as I can. President Kerry will need our support.

If so, ALL bets are off.

12. If you are waiting to see what he does first
it sounds to me like you are for giving him a chance.

13. He's going to get crapped on no matter what he does
But I have expectations that he will move this country left--if he doesn't do that, then he won't get much sympathy from me.
