4. James Nichols on Dateline a few years ago
Shows Stone Phillips around the farm house that Terry and McVeigh lived in and USED to plan OKC and in the barn were pallets and pallets are manure (amil nitrate).

Stone Phillips says to him,"You don't actually farm do you?"

James:"No"

Phillips:"Then why do you have all that manure?"

James (totally deadpanned and ovblivious like in 'Bowling')"I sell it at gunshows"

My roomate and I almost fell out of our respective chairs in shock and horror.

10. I think it was probably "ammonium" nitrate
Amyl nitrate is a vasodilator called "poppers" on the street.

Totally different product.

2. No, Human
And as long as we continue to dismiss such humans as nonhuman we can never fully understand how we humans can come to commit such horrendous acts. We are capable of greatness and horrors. We cannot turn away from our nature. We can only seek to understand it and strive to bring out the best while diminishing the worst.

6. Sorry nothing upsets me like the OKC bombing
and yes that includes the horrific 9/11. This was not a radial foreigner that we (I) have been condition to expect the horrific from but from our own people....and there were far more than two of them involved. They make me sick. As opposed to the death penalty as I am this tests my faith.

9. No doubt
I agree that it was a horrendous act. But it was conceived by a human mind. It is a potential within any human. The same lump of grey matter that gave us Ghandi can also produce a Timothy McVeigh. These do not come out of our nightmares. They have real sources and real consequences. If you wish to never see such a thing happen again you first must discern how it came to pass in the first place.

As to the death penalty I agree. If I were left in a room with such an individual I would not count on my civility protecting them. But this is not a room he is locked in. It is the justice branch of our society. And if we give the society permission to kill him we give it permission to kill us. Life cannot be taken from anyone without violating the most basic of rights. A society cannot be a mad crowd. It must remain above emotions. It must serve and protect. Locking these individuals away serves protection and preserves our rights.

Justice cannot right wrongs. No one can ever return the lost loved ones. There is no amount of vengence that can make this right. You could kill a hundred such murderers and still your heart would be broken for the loss of those who matter to you.

5. Exactly
We didn't go rounding up white supremists or the ULTRA far right "chirstian" militias who housed and funded OKC now did we? We didn't rip up the Constitution now did we?

8. question to ponder...
would OKC have happened if * (or poppy for that matter) had been in the white house?

I still think this whole Murrah bombing thing stinks--and I think it stinks the same way that the Berg beheading stinks. Don't "know" anything; just my gut instincts.

12. A disciple of Rush Limbaugh
Rush is the true scum of the earth. Granted this simple minded guy actually did the deed but the idea and the hatred was instilled by the likes of Rush, Savage, Boortz, North, Frei Republik etc. etc. When hatred is drilled into one's head after a while action is the result. Remember when Liddy said "when shooting at Federal agents always aim for the head"? that is the kind of rhetoric that causes things like OK city bombing.

13. True enough, but the majority of us here in Okla would rather they just
let him rot in federal prison and saved the millions being spent to try him on state charges for political sideshow.
