Problem ,George: Bin Laden & the boys don't work that way

I'm really amused at all Bush and Company's assurance that we are going to be attacked prior to the elections. There's one thing 100% certain about al Qaeda----they don't attack either where or when expected (guess that's a reason they are called terrorists). This has been pointed out numerous times by people like Peter Bergen and Josef Bodanski who have researched, invterviewed (even bin Laden himself)and studied bin Laden and al Qaeda for a couple decades. That's what makes them deadly. And that's what makes this new Bush propaganda nothing but "re-elect Bush" political lies. After all, remember, that "keeping us safe from terrorists" is the only thing in the polls that remain strong for Bush. They will "foil a few attempts" (cough, cough) and use it as proof of the strength of our Manly Man, Protector of the Faith, blah, blah. Probably they will foil a "massive" plot against the Dem Convention just when the opportune time to take the focus off of Kerry dawns. When the real terrorists strike again, it will take us completely by surprise.

that is, they are not really expecting an Al Qaeda strike.

They are laying the groundwork for an event that either will be a planned "attack" that they then stop at the last moment, showing Chimpy to be a great "leader"... or something more sinister.
