Does the "kinky sexual overtones" of homosexual/Dominatrix mentality make you wonder about "how far to go" before you "go over the edge?"

Does this all make you wonder how we got into this? Or, do you think this went on in Vietnam and WWWII?

Anyone have any experiences with this kind of sexual torture? I think it's been done throughout history, from my readings, but I was "schooled in the pure Patriotism thoughts that ..."America is Different...We Would NEVER DO THIS!" in my background.

I go back to the "Tudor Period" in England. Ann Bolyn was tortured until she admitted she had sex with her brother and also a "lute player." Religious folks and Plotters were "drawn and quartered" and their heads placed on "pikes" on London Bridge.

Sort of reminds me of the "charred bodies of those "civilian contractors" who were bombed and burned and charred remains hung from a bridge. All of this is about religion. The Tudor Period of England is particularly interesting to read, because it's understandable and the vengeance for "religious reasons" was so grotesque in the retribution for a "civilized Monarch" like Henry VII who loved poetry and was very educated.

Link:"Leasher gal" was how the New York Post referred to England in a headline last Saturday. The high-end papers were more tactful, but the fact that her picture made the front page of both The Washington Post and The New York Times is hardly incidental. Much has been made of England's willfulness, her nerviness, and her fondness for hunting. Never mind that many women hunt in England's neck of the West Virginia woods. Hers is not the attitude of a proper Southern maiden.

But then, England is no maiden, as the media duly noted by reporting that she'd been knocked up by her military boyfriend Charles Graner. He's also been named in the torture case, and many stories about him mentioned that he had been accused of abusing his former wife. But when a dude acts out, it's dog bites man. When a babe misbehaves, it's bitch bites man—and unfortunately that's a story.

Say what you will about sexism in this coverage. It's definitely true. But there's another reason why England's face is so ubiquitous in the press. Many acts depicted in those awful photos resonate with certain erotic fantasies. To admit that images of forced sodomy and pyramids of naked men are arousing is to understand why guards can do such things when ordered to, and then smile for the cameras. But because these fantasies clash with acceptable sexuality, they produce revulsion. The media show just enough flesh to rivet our attention, while blurring the holes in the prisoners' rectums as a signal of what we need to repress.

But offer an image of a woman grinning at the humiliation of men and you allay any homosexual anxiety while tapping into the permissible kitten-with-a-whip fantasy. You can blame her for being unnatural even as you project yourself into her gaze. By fostering this reverie, the press helps to transform a horrible story into a source of pleasure. That's where Lynndie England comes in. She's not just the face of Torturegate; she's the dominatrix of the American dream.

1. Oh...a kick because Tweety set me off tonight, and after listening to our
Real President's Speech on C-Span (Gore..in case some here, don't know) I just needed to vent about how we ended up with "S&M" in an Invasion of a Sovereign Country...when we had 8 years of peace and prosperity. Were the seeds of this sown somewhere there? Would Freeps like us to think that torture in Prisons under these "repressive sexual fananticts" goes back to him?" There's no way in Hell anyone will convince me of that. Never. The "balls" are in Georgie's Court and the Bakers and Kissingers and PNAC'ers and the rest of those Demons from Hell left over from the Bitterness of Nixon's demise.

They never forget...and I and others won't either, what they've done to the country my ancestors came here to start a NEW LIFE ..FREE from OPRESSION after what they had lived through. These evil dragons are some through back to other dark times. They are always there with us, but we should NEVER have allowed them to pop back up and get in control.

Why didn't we see it. Why couldn't we have stopped it?

Give me a break, she isn't the "public face of torturegate" - they use pretty much ALL the released photos equally on the telescreen channels. If anything, the hooded guy on the box is the icon here.

To say that they're featuring her to "allay homosexual anxiety" is ridiculous...

It says more about the proclivities of the author than anything... I'm glad he's getting off on them, but snapshots in a rape/torture/murder spree hardly arouse me. And when I say "hardly," I mean NOT AT ALL.
