I can't view the Moveon.org website at the office.
I'm a little upset. I would like to complain though it wouldn't be wise but it really burns me up that because this site is anti Bush, these dolts won't let anyone access it.

5. This is an important question, but a more important question is:
Does your company allow you to use their internect connection and company resources for personal use?

If the answer to that is "yes", then you should see if the RW sites are allowed, and, if so, and you are willing, you can ask why the company is discriminating based on political orientation.

7. I'll have to try FR tomorrow.
I don't know if they would be equivalent though.

4. What shows up when you try to access it?
Is there some sort of message, etc.?

Does it identify the type of blocking software in use (Websense seems the most common)?

Some of these products have a whole category "activism" that they allow to be blocked.

This site has more:

8. It just said unavailable.
Normally it would say blocked by __________________Corporation. But I know it's blocked because moveon.org gets such a negative spin on the networks. I may be paranoid but there is one bright side. We can view 4 cable stations on our pcs: Bloomberg, CNN, MSNBC and the Weather Channel....NOT FOX. So it's not so bad.:)

9. Can you befriend someone in network administration?
Find out what they are up to with the blocking?

I'm thinking its one of 2 things:

1. They are using a generic set of filtering options, like Websense, and just decided to turn on "block political activism" without specifically blocking moveon.org

2. They really are just targetting this site.

Option 1 is stupidity and crass censorship, accepting a vendor's definition of what your employees should read.

If this isn't bad enough, option 2 means they view this specific site as a threat. It would be worth finding out why.
