3. Country music died decades ago.
I don't know what you would call that shit they're playing now. "Real" country music is The Circle Album. "Real" country music is Doc Watson, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Hank Williams Sr, Roy Acuff, The Carter Family, and many, many more.

I loved the country, bluegrass, and folk music when I was young in the 50s, 60s, and even into the 70s. The stuff selling today is garbage compared to that. A sports analogy would be watching Ali in his prime and then hitting fast forward and watching Mike Tyson stumble around and bite ears off.

9. You are so absolutely right
Not to disparage all the country singers, but seems to me that all it takes now is a halfway decent voice, good-looking face and a tuff body and they're in like Flynn.

Of course we have the exceptions like Leann Rimes and Trish Yearwood who can actually hold their own with the old-time greats, but most of the new faces on the scene are of the Garth Brooks and Shania Twain gene pool. Not to say they don't have some modicum of talent, but they're really not country.

Hank Williams stopped rolling in his grave a long time ago, he realized it wasn't doing a bit of good.

And one more for the Chicks -- FUTK!

10. Yep
It's all marketing and hype. It's as if the repukes have taken over the music industry.

5. Didn't Keith recently begin to publicly question the Iraq war?
I think I read that somewhere. It's like Willie Nelson rubbed on off on him some..

8. Toby Keith is an asshole
He along with other hicks in country music try to express their views through music. They are vastly uninformed, and their views go out to others through the music, which is bad. I just can't stand any of them!

11. Hey - lots of "hicks" make great country music
Tobey Keith just isn't one of them.

He has catchy hooks, but that's about it.
