Has numbnuts trapped himself?
If our primate in the white house (he of the reduced mental ability) decides to fabricate a "terrorist attack" at home (which he is quite capable of doing) then it proves nothing has been done and we are still in danger (no! i thought we were safe now)
On the other hand, if nothing happens, our 3 second attention span infomercial loving nitwits who seem to make up the majority of the population will be free from distractions and just might ( i say this with a large dose of optimism) think instead of slowly sinking further into their abyss of beer, football and waxing of SUV's on sundays.

1. you forget, the majority of the population...
...and all of shrub's base are just as mindless as he is. These are the same people who keep touching the stove after getting burned every time. Shrub will put out the terror alerts, and they will be terrified; like you said, they have no memory.

2. I'm starting to think the same thing now.
Two weeks ago, I thought he could make an attack work to his benefit, by repeating the sound bite 'if you vote against Bush you are giving the terrorists what they want', ad nauseam. But the avalanche of bad news in the past two weeks has changed things. So his people must be questioning the strategy now just as we are on DU, wondering if it would work or not. Too many former Bush supporters now know he has no clothes. So, yeah, I think now he loses either way.

3. True. And * can't explain how AQ operatives GOT INTO THIS COUNTRY
Edited on Thu May-27-04 06:40 AM by no_hypocrisy
to be sleepers due to the stepped up security (alleged) at the airports, the borders, etc. (unless they were in a box on a cargo ship or something . . . ) So anything "unfortunate" that happens to this country from hereonin, he can't pass off to Clinton. He has to take responsibility 100%. Gotcha!

4. Only if the press is actually reporting the contradiction
Chances are they are starting to.

5. He's not that smart...
Is there anything this administration has attempted that hasn't blown up in its face? I think the terror alert was just a smokescreen so the press wouldn't talk about his dreadful speech on Monday night.

7. sorry - strongly disagree
If there is a terror attack in this country, the nation will be told by the Mass Media to rally 'round the War President, for only he can defend us. Faux News & CNN will begin the "Invade Iran" drumbeat and the RW Echo Chamber will start saying that if Bush had gotten an engraved invitation from Osama about when & where the terror attacks were going to occur, he would have moved "heaven & earth" to stop them... but, they will say, it was impossible to stop *these* attacks. Then, the rest of the media will soon pick up the Invasion drumbeat and the "impossible to stop" mantra. (Or, it's all Clinton's fault because he could have gotten Osama from the Sudan back in 1995)
