5. Now went to C-SPAN
He has done a very general speech on national security and the future
of multilateralism.

Funny CNN broke at that point, but not surprising.

This should have remained on CNN

Now he is tearing bush apart over his so called Policy Speech

I think I prefer to read rather than listen.

6. Man, is he boring...when I watch Kerry speak all I could think of was
Edited on Thu May-27-04 01:43 PM by Zinfandel
Bill Clinton--and how charismatic, and such a brilliant speaker he was, how Clinton was able to reach out and excite people, and give people such hope and confidence...Can you remember Clinton giving a speech?

But there's only one Bill Clinton and we have John Kerry, whom I will vote for in November.

Do you think Kerry is a dynamic, thrilling speaker as Clinton was or a dry, boring speaker, trying very hard to be, look & sound more exciting, like a Jimmy Carter (whom I also voted for, twice)?

8. Kerry's speech was impresive to this Dean supporter
He addressed all the issues, especially foreign affairs, very well and intelligently. He was an inspiration to me, and as I said, I am a Deaniac. If he continues like this I believe he will impress many more than me. Not boring.

13. Dude, I'm not talking about the substance, or his ideas or validity here
Edited on Thu May-27-04 02:03 PM by Zinfandel
I agree with most things Kerry spoke about...just as I did with Jimmy Carter, who had great and very progressive ideas, but was boring as fuck as a speaker.

CAN YOU REMEMBER THAT FAR BACK WHEN CLINTON GAVE A SPEECH???
Or was that too long ago? AGAIN, as I have already stated above...THERE'S ONLY ONE BILL CLINTON!

And I will vote for Kerry just as I have always voted Democrat in every election in my life!!!!

Kerry in my opinion is never going to move or excite the casual voter...only the voters who are aware and intent and astute on political affairs.

16. Where is another Clinton"
Agree, Clinton was fun to watch and had something to say. Could be my favorite President, yup. But, we as a country are in such bad shape that I am anxious to hear someone speak intelligently and thoughtfully and I felt I heard it from Kerry today. He did hold my attention and seemed sincere.

Edited on Thu May-27-04 02:44 PM by Zinfandel
people will make up their own minds? Are we trying to fool people here? That sounds more like Bush to me.

Kerry is NOT a great motivating, charismatic, exciting speaker. Which has NOTHING to do with his ideas or agenda.

Once again, Kerry in my opinion is never going to move or excite the casual voter...only the voters who are aware and intent and astute on political affairs.

"Keep talking like that and you will be listening to Bush for 4 more years"

People will make up their own minds...I'm just glad Bush is such a fuck up and Kerry has some very good idea's...can he get them across to the mainstream, the I don't give-a-shit-much-for-politics voters? When I saw Kerry's speech today, I see it as doutful...

Surely the media is not going to give Kerry a hand getting his message to the casual voters, the ones who go both ways, back and forth, back and forth, as the wind blows...Republican-Democrat, Republican-Democrat...the pathetic type as I see them!

(And Bush does have 300 million to spend and the corporate media helping him).

24. Forkboy is sympathizing w you because you are being "Attacked"
by evil Kerry Supporters.

At any rate, I guess my answer would be to you:

You are right, he is no Bill Clinton. . .But nobody is.

He isn't Robin Williams or Britney Spears either, and that is ok with me.

I don't find him boring, I find him intelligent.

If he is boring, so what? I am tired of the "excitement" of the Bush Admin.

Not everything under the sun is meant for your personal ENTERTAINMENT. I am beginning to understand the frustration of teachers for the last 20 years. If you want entertainment, watch HBO.

11. So, he's not a great orator....the content was vital...
Kerry outlined a very clear plan regarding national security. It was well thought out and hit every area in which Bush has been totally negligent. CNN began broadcasting with number 4 of 5 points in his plan...and then stopped. CSpan had the entire speech. I'm sure you can get it on their website.

If we want a candidate with great oratory skills, we're out of luck. Don't tell me Bush is an exciting speaker. Or Cheney. We'd better start pushing and promoting the CONTENT of the speeches, and stop being critical when it's not relevant. Kerry spoke well. He really did. The audience was responsive. Speeches won't change votes. Content may.

Showed way more animation than lurch did today. Its a shame really the guy had some decent things to say but who the hell is gonna sit through it?

This guy needs a speech writer in a bad way or some practice on delivery.

Not that it really matter shrub is beating himself.

15. good speech
...and when it comes to a speech about an important national issue such as security, I don't expect him to ooze with charisma. I want someone serious, thoughtful and sober (in more ways than one).

I thought he was fine today. What was important was what was said, and while I don't agree with him 100% about Iraq, everything else was right on the money.

28. Honestly after our last three and half year nightmare
Dull and competent is what we need. In fact, Kerry could run on it, no terror, no war, no scandals, nothing but steady and dull.

Yes, the school brain is dull but he's not getting us into a war, like the arrogant school jock, and he's not getting into someobdy's pants like Mr. Prom King.
