Rupert Murdoch Supporting John Kerry????
If you look at campaign contributions, Murdoch has given to Kerry twice, both times in late 2001. He's also given money to McCain and Specter, and none to Bush. What gives??

1. He's hedging his bets.
He knows the pendulum has swung about as far right as it can go and will travel to the left. He wants access and favor in the future. Kerry should take his money, thank him kindly, and ignore him totally.

5. He figures he's given billions to Bush with
FauxNews, Boston Herald, NYPost, etc. He can toss a grand or two Kerry's way.

6. It's nice ammunition for him when people accuse him of being a right-wing
shill. Give a few thousand to Kerry while his whore network promotes the right wing 24/7. If it were me, personally, I'd give the money back quietly without making a point about it and if asked I'd say "no comment."

8. That's for appearances. He had a fundraiser for Gore in 2000, but that
didn't stop him from using his entire empire to elect Bush.

I expect no different for this election.

10. I know what this is about...
.. it was in that book The Buying of the President. Kerry took a lot of money from a law firm that represented, among others, News Corporation, Murdoch's company. Kerry helped him out with some votes while he was in the Senate.

Not too pretty.

15. Wrong. That law firm gave that money over a NINETEEN YEAR PERIOD.
Edited on Thu May-27-04 03:00 PM by blm
It was Kerry's BROTHER'S law firm and his coworkers who donated that money over that time. They also represented telecom companies in the Boston area.

Their combined total from that firm over NINETEEN YEARS was still less than what Bush gets from ONE Pioneer in one election.

You want to surmise that Kerry's brother and his coworkers would NOT have donated to Kerry for 19 years if Kerry hadn't voted on a bill that benefitted a client in the telecom industry in 1996? Is THAT your quid pro quo?

14. Ruppert Murdoch suggested burning the ballots in 2000
He's covering for his overt pro-Bush news coverage that helped keep the truth about 9/11 and about Gore's victory from coming out in 2001. That way when asked about the bias, he thinks he can just say, I contributed to Kerry.
