My county's sheriff is stepping down.

He says he can't effectively provide police protection for the citizens. Why? No money.

I think, because of layoffs, there are five deputies now. It's hard to police even this rural county with five deputies.

Just another effect of the Bush economic miracle, albeit indirectly.

1. Yeah! I'm sure scenarios are happening all over our Country

similiar to this! Sounds like your Sheriff made a commitment and when he felt he couldn't keep it ...he resigned rather than break his promise!

that as Republicans get into office running as law-and-order candidates we become LESS secure as services are cut.
