RW e-mail I need help in responding

Does anyone have a sight to go to to debunk that e-mail that was going around about how the Dems voted to let everyone have social security, how the Dems supposedly taxed social security? I t was going around a while ago. I just ignored it because the people I recieved it from were not worth responding to, but now I recieved it from someone who is legitmately asking for an explanation, they are great * supporters but are really starting to think maybe he is not such a good idea so I would like to send them an intelligent response.

I have never even seen that email but I snoped "social security" and this is the first one that came up, sounds like what you are talking about:

Q: Which party took Social Security from an independent fund and put it
in the general fund so that Congress could spend it?

A: It was Lyndon Johnson and the Democratic-controlled House and Senate.

Q: Which party put a tax on Social Security?

A: The Democratic party.

Q: Which party increased the tax on Social Security?

A: The Democratic Party with Al Gore casting the deciding vote.

Q. Which party decided to give money to immigrants?

A: That's right, immigrants moved into this country at 65 and got SSI Social Security. The Democratic Party gave that to them although they never paid a dime into it.

Then, after doing all this, the Democrats turn around and tell you the Republicans want to take your Social Security.

And the worst part about it is, people believe it!

been circulating for ages. It's pretty funny since "The Democrats!" is not the right answer to most of the questions posed.

I'm sure they'll all shit a brick when they discover that it wasn't the Dems who are responsible for all the taxation. :-)

This may have been posted on DU previously, can't recall just where I saw it, but here's the website you should go to: dubyaD40.com, the article is titled, "dbunks the Social Security e-mail hoax." A great response to all the lies from your RW contacts.
