My problem with Bush V. Bush
There is a debate taking place between those who say that Kerry should be fighting harder and those that say Kerry should stay out of the fray and let Bush implode.

Here's my problem with the theory of letting Bush implode. There is a very real possibility that Bush will bounce back. What then? Kerry will have boxed himself in. We are dealing with an electorate that wants to see a candidate who has conviction and who is himself. Its the only reason why shrub has had been popular. Remember, Gore "redefined himself after each debate based on what his handlers asid the public wanted. In m,y opinion the public wants consistency. Even if Kerry's views are nuanced, and his analysis complex, he has to be himself and he has to remain that way throughout. If he doesn't fight now he will not have that option if he needs it later.

What do you think?

1. Disagree
It's a good argument, but Kerry is as yet undefined. He isn't boxed in, and there's no box in sight. If he has to define himself, say, in August or September, he won't have to explain so many of his earlier positions. He can be more focused and work with a shorter time line. That opportunity is rare, but Kerry gets it by default. Bush has gotten himself so badly tied up that the onus of every investigation will be on him, not Kerry.

Right now, Kerry can take the "high road" and not kick the poor fellow when he's down. The poor fellow's friends are doing that well enough.

2. It's Bush (FOX, CNN) vs. CBS/NBC
Disney/ABC is cowering because of Eisner's unusual position and their Saudi shareholders.

The GOP vote will be demoralized - they don't have jobs. As long as the Democrats bring out their base, Kerry will get a landslide and we could easily pick up Congress. At this point it's a matter of energizing the base. The "middle" doesn't exist anymore, they won't bother to vote.

The only way Bush can win is if FOX/CNN goes 100% on board after a terrorist attack, and Kerry implodes for some reason. Otherwise it's smooth sailing. But it has to be a wide margin, because of Diebold and the voting machines.

The trick is to prevent Bush/Cheney from destroying us all in the next few months, not unlikely.

They've all but promomised us a terrorist attack, and since FOX and CNN
are still pretty solidly in Bush*'s camp now, they'll go 24x7 for Bush*
after an attack.

> and Kerry implodes for some reason.

He doesn't need to. He'll just disappear from the airwaves.
The networks don't have to run Kerry's ads and they won't if there is an
attack. They may pretend to be "bipartisan" by not running Bush's ads
either, but they'd let him have all the airtime he wants for free on
their "news" programs.

Let's call it like it is. WE NEED THE BIGGEST LANDSLIDE EVER!

4. I think you're right, if they can pull that off
then all bets are off, and they have the initiative. We can only hope that the institutional establishment won't allow it. If the Bush regime has that much control, after everything they have done, then we are lost already.
