Creative Captioners Cicada Alert!!!

President George W. Bush (news - web sites) is chased by a cicada as he walks up the steps to Air Force One at Andrews Air Force Base, May 25, 2004. The United States' occupation of Iraq (news - web sites) will come under fire at a summit of European and Latin American leaders on Friday but they will pledge more action in the fight against terrorism. 3. This distribution of the Cicadas
I live in Alexandria around the parkway and we haven't seen a single damn Cicada (I was greatly looking forward to it as I had fond memories from childhood). I figured well they aren't coming and went to an appointment in Falls Church and proceeded to walk into a swarm of biblical proportions all over route 7. They are really such interesting creatures. Maybe we can figure out a way to concentrate their breeding on the White House grounds. Bush in a bee keeper suite would be worth much effort.. :)

6. Same here.
We live in Indiana and some places in the state are just SWARMED with the little beasties. But around here -- nothing. And since we live in the suburbs with lots of trees and open fields, you'd think this would be prime cicada territory.

5. Here's a photo with a closer angle (large graphics)

I'm obsessed with these little cicada fellas... especially when they stalk high-ranking government officials, and, press secretaries. ;-)

I've been dive-bombed by dozens of them in the last week. It's fun to see that even heads of state are not immune to their massive numbers...

7. the way the buzz around is really cool
its almost in slow motion compared to other insects. I got dive bombed when I was in their territory as well, actually I rolled down the windows to get a listen and one flew right through my car :)
