Do a google on Gore's speech or on Dean's name. Check sort by date.
They are in effect using the tactic of comparing Gore with Dean, thus attempting to discredit them both.

They needed desperately to discredit Al Gore after that powerful speech. They now need to re-discredit Dean whose new political column syndicates next week to over 700 papers.

They are starting to make a difference again, and the GOP talking points are working well.....even here. I have counted a lot of posts being critical of Gore's passion during the speech.
It really concerns me a lot that a speech like that is being picked apart so thoroughly here at a Democratic board.

So, in effect, the Republican Noise Machine is alive and well and even working on us.

1. First...
..Gore is too wooden and not feeling. Now he is too passionate and abrasive. You just can't win.

8. Not completely clear
But I think s/he meant that was the media's spin on things. The "you just can't win" comment makes me think s/he likes Gore, and knows that he gets screwed by the media no matter what he does. Hopefully that's what was meant!

The media spin. Gore and Dean will be dissed whenever they seem to matter again.

11. I was referring to madfloridian's last sentence
This one:

"So, in effect, the Republican Noise Machine is alive and well and even working on us."

We need a lot more people who are willing to think for themselves, and stop listening to the whore media.

Yes, that has been the spin, hasn't it?
He is passionately telling the truth now, and the party folks are backing off and allowing the right to call him crazy.

3. I don't see a problem with a little disagreement.
We all have our own opinion of how best to promote Kerry & denounce Bush. I don't hear people saying their not going to vote for Kerry because of Gore's speech.

BTW, is there a list of where Dean's column is going to appear? I'd sure like to read it.

4. No problem with disagreement....problem with truth.
My country has been doing horrible things in my name. It is my job to speak out on it. If I don't, then I as much as condone these things.

Dean's column will be syndicated through Cagle.

6. On the other hand
As a caller pointed out to Randi Rhodes yesterday, as long as the right is criticizing Gore's speech, they're drawing attention to it. More people will be watching it. (It's on the list of "most watched" items on CSPAN.com.) That could be a good thing.

7. Sadly...some of these stories come from the DLC...

12. Mr. Gore is a good asset for our side
The more they do this to him, the more I will listen. Noam Chompsky is almost a dimi-god because of them doing this type of thing. The other side of the news is so ugly sometimes it get hard to look :scared:, but we got to, without the truth there can be no justice.

“We paid $3 billion for these television stations. We will decide what the news is. The news is what we tell you it is.”

— David Boylan
WTVT station manager
April 16, 1997

Boylan said this to two of the station’s on-air reporters, Jane Akre and Steve Wilson, a husband-and-wife investigative reporting team. WTVT is a Fox-affiliated station in Tampa, Florida. The station manager was trying to get Akre and Wilson to falsify their investigative report on Monsanto’s bovine growth hormone (BGH) in the Tampa-area milk supply.

The report showed that studies link Monsanto’s BGH in milk to cancer. So Monsanto pressured Fox News to cover it up, and Fox News ordered WTVT to edit the story to be less damning to Monsanto. Akre and Wilson refused, despite repeated attempts by the corrupt station manager to have the story altered. Boylan even offered to terminate them with full pay if they promised to never speak publicly about their BGH findings. Finally, when Akre and Wilson threatened to report the station to the FCC for falsifying news, they were fired.

They sued WTVT, and on August 18, 2000, a Florida state court jury unanimously determined that Fox News “acted intentionally and deliberately to falsify or distort the plaintiffs’ news reporting on BGH.” The jury also found that Jane Akre’s threat to blow the whistle on Fox News deception by reporting them to the FCC, was the sole reason for the firing. The jury awarded Acre and Wilson $425,000 in damages.

Fox News appealed, and on February 14, 2003 a crooked judge reversed the jury, actually issuing a ruling that it is legal for the media to deliberately lie and distort the news on a television broadcast!

WTVT...how well I remember when that happened with Akre and Wilson. I watch it now, and I see the same mindset. A sad day for our country when that happened.
