Half-time position with no benefits brings in over 100 applicants...
I was floored when I found this out this morning. My employer advertised a half-time position with no benefits and had over 100 applications submitted!
:wow:

Forget what you read or hear in the whore media about an improving economy. Maybe someone is making money somewhere out there, but certainly not the 100+ applicants who responded to my employer's ad.

1. I started part-time, no benefits
and soon moved to full-time with benefits at the same office (thank you, oh great spirit of employment!)
I have friends and family who are job-searching, and I tell them to go for temporary/part-time jobs because it may turn into something more, or it may be easier to get a temporary/part-time job than a full-time one. I just wanted to DO SOMETHING after being unemployed for months and a part-time job is better than none.

and get job openings e-mailed to me every day. I used to get at least a full page's worth. But since the beginning of this month, I get an average of a dozen.

3. Once trained
They can be moved into a full-time low paying position with no benefits, thus replacing those who now have benefits.
