Should Kerry name his VP at the convention.....or afterwards ?
Like, about the same time as the Republican convention???? But that might steal some attention from the Repubs? That wouldn't be fair, would it? Since the Repubs screamed loud enough to make Kerry change his mind about holding off on accepting the nomination, because they wanted and need the 5 week advantage they will have between the Kerry nomination in Juy and the Bush nomination in September. So Kerry should not make the Democrats suffer any longer and name his VP some time soon? Would that be the best thing to do?

1. The convention nominates the VP.
It has to be before or during but not after.

2. Is that written in stone?
Or could it be changed if requested by the nominee?

4. The rules can be changed at the convention.
But why do it?
The delegates love hamming it up on TV.
You know:

"The great state of Texas, home to the most beautiful women in the world, casts all 200 of its votes for the next pres-i-dent of the U-nited States, John F. Kerry!!!" (Applause) (Balloons)

5. And of course, there is Kentucky...
'the great state of Kentucky, home of beautiful horses and fast women, is thrilled to nominate as the next president of the United States, John Forbes Kerry!" :)

3. It needs to be done at the convention
The issue is whether Senator Kerry is going to wait until the convention or announce at some point to get some press. A designated VP would be helpful in that we would have a designated attack dog to go negative on Bush and Cheney. Cheney is doing this now on behalf of Bush and Senator Kerry is only able to respond indirectly through surrogates.
