CBS News : Gasoline in Florida and LA polluted with "sulphur"
So there is no gas at Shell or Exxon stations. They have locked them all down. No gas! For people that were willing to pay the higher price, they were quite disappointed to see there was no gas at all....

5. More Enron bullshit!!!!!

They are "wildcat" striking refineries. One by one, the oil companies are taking turns shutting down their refineries to drive up gas prices.

Enter Prince BANDAR!!!!! He says we don't have enough refinery capacity.

Well, we had PLENTY of refinery capacity under Clinton. And the Iraq war shouldn't effect our refining capacity. The reason is simple. We don't ship crude to the US, refine it, and then ship Diesel BACK to the gulf. That's fucking stupid (though, I wouldn't be surprised if Halliburton did it).

These are price manipulations pure and simple. They are trying to set up a big corporate payout and killing environmental protection standards.

2. We have 600MM barrels in the ground in US reserves.
There is no reason, other than politics, not to draw on it.

Edited on Fri May-28-04 07:51 PM by RC
Back when it also had lead as a anti-knock compound.

what are they going to do with all this high sulfur gas, flare it off? or wait a few days till the sulfur evaporates. :eyes:

7. I didn't know
so I googled and found this article.

<snip>
Our Federal Government is listening, and they have taken an initiative that will force Petroleum Producers to clean up their products starting in 2002 and be fully compliant 2005. The goal is to get out the Sulphur. The target is 30 ppm 2005, a goal currently being met in California. The target in 2002 thru 2004 is 150 ppm and then reaching the goal of 30 ppm 2005. Some companies are well on their way to meeting the goal, like Sunoco and Irving Oil; who use low sulphur crude. Other companies who use Canadian Sources of high sulfur crude, believe the status quo as high as 1000 ppm is fine and are resisting a change for the better ..... Globe and Mail

Some Sulphur Facts
Naturally Present In Oil
340 ppm in Canadian Gasoline
Gasoline emits sulphur particles when burned.
Sulphur particles can cause breathing problems.
The federal government decreed sulphur content in gas could be no higher than 150 ppm 2004 and down to 30 ppm in 2005 ... Toronto Star
http://www.rivernen.ca/sulphur.htm

Do a search on google for gasoline+sulphur for many more sites.
