Bush explains how "more than 50 million souls now live in freedom"
President's Discusses Memorial Day in Weekly Radio Address
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2004/05/20040529.html

"Today, freedom faces new enemies, and a new generation of Americans has stepped forward to defeat them. Since the hour this nation was attacked on September the 11th, 2001, we have seen the character of the men and women who wear our country's uniform. In places like Kabul and Kandahar, Mosul and Baghdad, we have seen their decency and brave spirit. And because of their fierce courage, America is safer. And two terror regimes are gone forever, and more than 50 million souls now live in freedom.

Our mission continues, and we will see it through to victory. We have a strategy to defeat our terrorist enemy, and a plan to help establish lasting freedom in Iraq. The stakes are high, and they are clear. The enemy seeks to establish a new haven for terror and violence at the heart of the Middle East. They seek to force free nations to retreat into isolation and fear, yet we will persevere, and defeat this enemy, and hold this hard-won ground for the realm of liberty."

1. That guy makes me want to puke.
The Iraqis are certainly enjoying their new found freedom, right Dumbya? I guess if he keeps repeating the big lie long enough, dimwits will start to believe it.

3. I just wonder how Veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam feel...
...about Bush using Memorial day as just another opportunity to pimp his Iraqi occupation. I have to assume that some support what we're doing right now and others are horrified, but this is a day for Veterans, not re-election speeches.

5. "it is the best among us who are called"
One more quote from Crusader Bush, from the same URL provided above:

"Through our history, America has gone to war reluctantly because we have known the costs of war. And in every generation, it is the best among us who are called to pay that price. Those who have paid those costs have given us every moment we live in freedom, and every living American is in their debt. We can never repay what they gave for this country. But on this holiday, we acknowledge the debt by showing our respect and gratitude."

6. And let's not forget that other essential freedom
to have your door kicked down, your family held at gunpoint, a bag taped over your head, and be dragged out in the middle of the night to some prison where you'll be stripped naked and piled up with other naked prisoners and dragged around on a leash and things stuck up your ass until you denounce your religion and rat out your neighbor at the bottom of the pile.

9. More Nazi propaganda - compare to this
Sort of reminds me of this speech from Hitler on Bolshevism:

I mean here that if Europe does not awaken to the danger of the Bolshevic infection, then I fear that international commerce will not increase but decrease, despite all the good intentions of individual statesmen. For this commerce is based not only on the undisturbed and guaranteed stability of production in one individual nation but also on the production of all the nations together. One of the first things which is clear in this matter is that every Bolshevic disturbance must necessarily lead to a more or less permanent destruction of orderly production. Therefore my opinion about the future of Europe is, I am sorry to say, not so optimistic as Mr. Eden's. I am the responsible leader of the German people and must safeguard its interests in this world as well as I can. And therefore I am bound to judge things objectively as I see them. . .
(1) We look on Bolshevism as a world peril for which there must be no toleration.

(2) We use every means in our power to keep this peril away from our people.

(3) And we are trying to make the German people immune to this peril as far as possible.

Anyone else see the similarities?

10. Good for the 50 million, I suppose.
One will note he didn't say which 50 million, and where they lived. Are there 50 million wealthy (net worth above $1 million) people in the world? I bet they "breathe free" with Bush in office; they get lots of other things free, too.

Now, if/when Kerry gets into office, maybe approximately 292 million people* will breathe free at last.

*According to latest monthly estimate of US population from the Census Bureau
