A Quote From John F. Kennedy:
From the speech he intended to give on 11-22-63 in Dallas: "America's leadership must be guided by the lights of learning and reason - or else those who confuse rhetoric with reality and the plausible with the possible will gain popular ascendancy with their seemingly swift and simple solutions." ("An American Melodrama: The Presidential Campaign of 1968;" by Chester, Hodgson, & Page; pg 37)

3. Imagine if JFK was still alive today...
I wonder what he would be saying about this war and the current state of the Democratic party.

12. Interesting
If you listen to JFK and some of his speeches you will find that he sounds much more like the cons of today than today's democrat.

I personally don't think he would agree with the positions the democrats are taking today when it comes to national security.

But... who knows.

JFK refused to invade Cuba even under overwhelming pressure from the DOD. Not even close.

Just what are the positions 'the democrats taking today'? Do you even know?

Unlikely...:eyes:

6. Today would be his 87th birthday!
Reagan and Ford are older than he would be.

4. Bu$h I, Raygun, Bu$h II simpletons
On the news they are saying that the trouble in Saudi Arabia may decrease oil supplies.
Had we carried out what Carter started with conservation and renewable enegy ....
Had RFK lived ....
Had JFK lived, I think we would have been out of VietNam earlier. He was learning and learning fast.

5. Our president couldn't put down his Mad Magazine to read that book
Much less lead our country. What a shame that our great country can't have a great president like JFK every term. We got stuck with Bush and the world is paying for it. :(

8. Kennedy wanted to talk about public education.
From what I remember, that was to be the focus of his addresss at the Trade Mart that day. He wanted the nation to know his administration was working to ensure that each child had a chance for a quality education. He also said it was in the natijonal intereste to have an informed citizenry. During World War 2, an educated public had made it possible to raise and train an army quickly. As an intellectual (and liberal, but I repeat myself), JFK knew what Epictetus and the ancients knew: Only the Educated are Free.

10. God Bless You, Jack. Happy Birthday.
This man made a huge difference in my young life. He inspired me to become interested in history and to go to college. He helped me to believe I could make a difference. I love him for the spirit he imparted to those like me who simply needed inspiration to chart a course to the stars.

Jack, you put yourself under enormous pressure to succeed and to lead. We here today remember.

In the long history of the world
only a few generations
have been called upon to defend freedom
in its hour of maximum danger.
I do not shrink from that responsibility.
I welcome it.

I do not believe that any of us
would exchange places
with any other people
in any other generation.

The energy, the faith and the devotion
which we bring to this endeavor
will light our country
and all who serve it.
And the glow from the fire
can truly light the world.

11.  Proud to be a Democratic Thinker.
What great leaders we have sent to the world.

It's been a long time since the GOP has sent someone who wasn't of criminal intent.
Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Bush... what's to be proud of out of that whole lot. No great orators, no inviitation to the world to speak peace, no one worthy of a prize.

War, arms deals, occupation, war, fraud, war, money for war, death, destruction. Global Hitlerization.

Kennedy, Carter, Clinton, and soon Kerry. Men who see the future of the planet, and set out to protect it. Men who see human life as sacred, and set out to hold the world accountable to follow that concept.

If this world can only survive 5 more months, we have a chance.

We have a chance to bring honor and dignity back to the human race. It will take another of our great Democratic leaders who base their policy on the simple needs of humanity. Rather than a self serving need for power, wealth and domination.

That is a beautiful John F Kennedy quote. Thanks
