4. I read a story about Clooney going back to the small town in KY
in which he grew up when his father was a reporter in Cincinatti. (His HS class had something like 35 people.)

The reporter walked down the street with him and a guy stepped out of a store walked up and had a really friendly conversation with Clooney. They showed a picture of the guy...a black man. When the guy walked away, Clooney said that the guy was one of his best friends from HS. Later the interviewer interviewed the guy separately. They guy said they talk all the time -- every 6 months or something like that and that the guy had been out to CA to visit Clooney a couple times. He said Clooney is one of the finest people he'd ever met in his life.

I may be embelishing my memory of this, but the point was that Clooney seemed like a really normal decent guy who hadn't forgotten where he came from.
