matcom's post in this link:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=1606097made me think about methods of "converting" people away from a Bush vote. I haven't had any successes in this regard, but I'm encouraged by those who have and reported their stories here. When I send people politically related material, especially those who are of a different "persuasion" than me, I generally follow the guidelines laid out by matcom in the post above. The sources are always major outlets (Time, Newsweek, CNN, NYT, WashPost etc.), I send the whole article not a link (much more likely to be read that way). I was doing this before reading matcom's post, showing I guess that great minds think alike. I stay away from sending those articles that are most strident in tone, saving those for those of MY "persuasion" to help reinforce their ardor. But the "shoutingest" articles would mostly scare off would-be convertees.
Anyway, I thought that it might be of some use to compile a list of "seminal" articles that are very persuasive and well written, particularly those written by Republicans or conservatives.
One of the best possible attributes of anti-Bush articles for "conversion" purposes is if they are actually written by a Republican or conservative type, particularly if it is someone well known and respected by most. I would think that these would be most likely to be actually read by the "conversion" target.
I'll lead off with a couple of examples.
