I heard MSNBC talking about the percentage of Bush ads against Kerry that are negative ads. It is my opinion that people are turned off by "negative" ads. They just have to be reminded. :)
I think Kerry should take the clip from MSNBC and use it in a short ad - just to plant the seed in the minds of the voters about just how "negative" these Bush people really are. He could say something like, "It's time to stop the negative ads and come up with a positive plan for America and the war on terrorism. I'm John Kerry and I approve this message..."
People say they don't like them, but then will immediately go on to parrot exactly what was told them in negative ads. Bush*s negative ads have been very effective against Kerry. Kerry cannot get any traction with voters. He's in deep trouble.
Saying the other guy uses negative ads doesn't get you much. It's been Repug policy since Lee Atwater to go negative at every opportunity and claim it is the opponent who uses negative ads. Then it's a pissing contest about who is most negative. It's a losing proposition for the Democrats who have significantly less money to start a battle over this. Remember how "Willie Horton" Bush actually had a majority of people polled believing Dukakis ran the most negative campaign?
