Rolling Thunder is getting negative feedback on their site

http://www.rollingthunder1.com/pow-mia-forum.htm

for example:

"
I'm a peace time vet and a biker, and I'm not sure who should be more embarrassed, me or Artie.

I'm embarrassed that the nation thinks that Artie and Rolling Thunder speak for bikers and for vets, because they don't. No one who looks at Bush's record on Veteran affairs or his relationship with the military could think that he is pro-vet. If his record isn't proof enough, the proposals to reduce the budget of Veteran's Affairs in spite of more need than ever should be.

I'll ALMOST be embarrassed to put the flag on my Sportster on Monday because people may think that I share or support Artie's endorsement of Bush. I'll go ahead and do it as I always have though, in memory of and out of respect for those who gave their lives in service to our country.

Artie should be embarrassed because his endorsement, which clearly was intended not just as a personal endorsement but also as that of the Rolling Thunder organization, has taken a great event and politicized it. Here's one biker/vet who did NOT participate in Rolling Thunder XVII thanks to Artie's endorsement, in spite of the fact that I live close enough to D.C. to easily do the ride.

Shame on you Artie!

1. People died thinking they were defending freedom. They're spinning in
their graves, or would be if they knew, that * has dismantled lots of freedoms - with Patriot II (the 2003 Domestic something or another act) poised to turn the United States from a free country into sub-Stalin Russia with a tinge of Nazi Germany for added measure.

8. Rolling thunder
I was driving up 95,heading to an early memorial day party, and I saw rolling thunder passing by us on the highway
Several guys on their bikes.
One guy had an American and POW flag on his bike flappin'. Another had a cart trolley thing behind him. They were packed up I figured they had been riding on a long tour. I had no clue where their club was based..
I assumed they were going to the memorial dedication. My biker friends went to it too. They stayed far away from Bush.I don't have a bike of my own so I went to the party but I wished I could ride 'cause it was a kick ass day to be riding...
Interestingly I was discussing with the driver about the idiocy of Bush and told him the sadness I felt that this immoral, administration was here when the WW2 memorial was finally done.. I was saying that just as rolling thunder went by our car on their bikes. I saw the Artie guy riding. Little did I know they'd be talking about him and their club on DU. I knew they were rolling thunder because they had their colors on..

Strange how things coincide.

9. Here's another from their website:

Im a veteran,I did 6 years.I cant afford a harley.I did my time and now im out.I learned to not ask much from my country even though I gave it the best years of my life. You guys that support bush are a slap in the face of all veterans!SHAME ON YOU!

And another:

Yes, yes, yes - shame on you!! I am a 61 year old veteran of Vietnam and a proud one at that! I fought in Vietnam during 1967 - the year of more casualties than almost the rest of the war put together (look it up). I've also ridden since I was 8 years old and I still ride daily. Your leadership must be drinking too much beer - endorsing Bush is not only a slap in the face to all veterans but it is moronic and thoughtless in the extreme. Here is a man who not only avoided Vietnam service through family connections but can't even prove he served honorably in the National Guard that his daddy pulled strings to get him into. Here is a man who is sending our sons and grandsons to die in a war based on lies (remember the WMD and the Nigerian uranium scan?), who never experienced any of the fires of being tested in the chaos of combat - with no plan, no followup plan and no idea how to get out of it. Here is a man who runs against men who were tested in hell, survived and came back to lead. Who would you follow - the shirker and slacker or the man who has been there and survived on his own merit? Here is a man who would gut the VA to be able to serve the greed of his rich cronies. For God's Sake......what have you done and what do YOU get for it?? Shame is too mild for your shallowness. I can only think that you haven't got a clue as to what combat veterans know! And the final bitter pill....who in the hell do you think left our brothers to rot in Vietnam as MIA's?.........the Republican Administration of Gerald Ford and the gutless political sellout of Henry Kissinger in Paris. You guys are pathetic for your endorsement and your lack of knowledge of history.

10. "Rolling Thunder" has poisoned my mind.
I got more than 250,000 miles on 2 wheels, 65,000 of it on a H-D. A lot of it in weather so shitty most those squid "Patriots" wouldn't have even driven their Ram trucks to the Hog shop for some "bench racing" (bullshit session)

I considered myself a "real" biker. Wiped out on ice patches, rode in rain so heavy the horn drowned, and in weather so cold I had to run 20-weight oil.

These "manly" fuckers, if they came from more than 50-60 miles from DC, prolly trailered their bikes in for the ride.

Harley Davidson used to stand for Freedom and Indivisuality. Ever since fuckers like the late un-lamented Malcolm Forbes and Leno and the rest of the Hollywood ReTHUGs made Harley riding the new "IN Thing", and the price of a bike I paid $4200 in 1977 has inflated to $25,000, it's just another limp-dick toy. Just like a H-2, or a 400-HP bass boat or some bimbo young enough to be your daughter with plasic tits the size of the Hindenburg.

I tell ya, it was REAL hard not to flip-off the Harley poseurs I saw today while grocery shopping....

Fucking Ditto-Heads!
