DraftWesleyClark.com Launches TV Ads in Primary States
Edited on Wed Aug-13-03 09:23 AM by ignatiusr
I think this is incredibly cool news. Only a handful of declared candidates have even aired ads yet. For Clark to get this kind of exposure, with no effort on his part, before he spends a second or a penny campaigning, or even declares that he's running, is amazing. The ads will be in Iowa, New Hampshire, and Arkansas (because it's his home state). They'll be 30 seconds longer than the traditional campaign ad.

but for those interested, this is the address -

http://www.draftwesleyclark.com/tv_ad.htm

I like Clark and think he can beat Team Liars, but have been most interested in sitting back and watching his campaign unfold.

I watched the interview on C-Span with the co-founders of the group and found it interesting that Hlinko (a Democrat) had been a co-founder of MoveOn.org also. The MoveOn group seemed to me to have some powerful influence behind it - it virtually came out of no where.

Hlinko's co-founder of draftwesleyclark is his brother-in-law, Margulies, a long-time repuke. Good news because this is the kind of cross-over that Clark will be able to garner in an election.

But Margulies who is a lawyer says that he is working for draftwc for free. I found this strange.

Anyway, my point is that Clark has some pretty powerful influences, IMO, backing his run. Remember, he is out of Little Rock and is close friends with Jackson Stephens. It was Stephens money that helped Clinton.

Once Clark announces his run - which I'm now almost fully convinced that he will - you will see most of the Dems back out of the race (except for Dean - he's too strong), throw their support for Clark, and a full bore campaign against the chimp begun. A deal will be struck with Dean for the VP slot and this would make an extraordinarily powerful ticket.

2. Hlinko is his name...
John Hlinko is the Democrat co-founder. Josh Marguiles is the Republican ;-)

4. This is not a "discussion topic." It's a blatant commercial, degrading

to the quality of the DU boards.

Do people on DU really want the board converted into little more than relentless huckstering for particular candidates? Why come here for that, when you can get the same quality of "commentary" on TV?

The above "post" is nothing but a shameless PR release, quite in keeping with the rest of the mindless Clark yabbering of recent days.

8. Well, Gee. And what do you suppose that might be?
Are you able to further articulate this mysterious sense you have, in any way? I'm all ears!

9. My "sense" is not "mysterious" in the least...
My post was merely an analysis of what I believe is going on behind the scenes in the Democratic party, especially as it relates to Clark. Yes, I said I liked Clark and was interested in watching this movement and who is behind it. I am not "huckstering" for anyone. I also like Dean and Bob Graham.

But the interesting "fishiness" (suspect/dubious) of your attack is that you only mention Clark by name and no other candidate. Funny, because Dean and Kucinich threads outnumber Clark threads probably 100 to 1.

Perhaps you can educate us as to why your attack was directed solely at Clark threads and not Dean or any other?

7. I trust you don't say "instead of bashing candiates, say something positiv

positive about your own"?

If people are allowed to post things like "Is Howard Dean the next JFK?", "Why I'm not supporting Clark", "Why I'm voting for Kucinich", why can't someone post that ads have started?

I'm so confused at DU sometimes. Don't start bashing threads, don't start threads supportive of your candidate. "We" will let you know when you can reply.

Uh........

10. YOU'RE Complaining About Degrading the Quality of the Boards?
You? Wow, that's rich.

In any event, this commercial was newsworthy enough for MSNBC to put it on their front page this morning, so IMO it's certainly appropriate for GD, and LBN too.

5. You know... I can;t get behind Clark...

If he can't be bothered to run without having the red carpet laid out for him and being begged by the people.

I want to vote for someone who WANTS the job... not someone we have to beg to even consider running.

Until Clark says he is running... he does not exist as a candidate.
