All troops in Iraq should expect to serve for at least a year, with brief rest breaks in the region and possibly a few days at home, the commander of U.S. forces said Tuesday. That came as news to some soldiers.

But some of the 148,000 soldiers in Iraq said nobody told them how long they would remain in the country, where guerrillas attack Americans daily and high temperatures often top 120 degrees.

Is there room in Washington for another memorial?

1. Could put one on the Supreme Court steps.

Given how their decision on the 2000 election was a necessary precedent to allowing Bush to start this oil war.
That would be giving credit where credit is due.

3. They brought the 2nd(3rd?) ID back.
One guy on C-Span Military Families said his son (over there) told him the whole unit was militarily, physically, and mentally unfit for duty, so that's why they were brought back...and this was just after the aircraft carrier stunt.

Call C-Span and tell them to re-air and archive the press conference!!

6. No, I am not at all surprised that they will stay for a year.
I believed that all hell would break loose there after we had "liberated" the country.

The longer this lasts, the more BushCo can cash in.

9. Saw this business on the Alleged News last night
Talk about your Viet Nam Era (Error) flashbacks! Hell, we've already got the regime lying about death tolls and casualty figures. We shouldn't be too surprised that the Cakewalk has turned into Tours Of Duty, I suppose. After all, that's the way quagmires work.

Next, I guess we'll be hearing about the "Iraqization" of the conflict and Henry Kissinger will be sent to Paris for Piece Talks.

In fact I'm waiting for the draft call to get louder, it's been whispered by a few. * and co. will hold off for as long as possible, but, they're pissing off the shiites now, and it's only a matter of time.
