A question for European DUer's
As those of you in the EU are aware I hope, of the elections for the European parliament are on June 10. Therefore I would like to ask this question...

What parties do you think will do well at the elections to the EU parliament?

From what I can see about the place I think that unfortunatly the hard-right UK Independence Party may well do very well on June 10th. They want Britain to pull out of the EU and seem to be getting quite a lot of support round where I am.

EU DUer's please feel free to say what's going on round where the rest of you are!

1. In Spain...
I think Socialist Party will win by a pretty wide margin in front of the conservatives.

2. Polls for UKIP
may not be an indication of their true support - people often say on polling that they will vote UKIP but then do not.

I went to a hustings the other day, organised by StopTheWar... RESPECT came across really badly compared to the Greens, I think they will flop in the South East.

4. I bumped into RESPECT on Monday in Wivenhoe
and I found they were not all that interested in debating EU issues, which I don't think is a good approach when standing for the EU parliament.

Anyone in the UK having trouble with postal votes BTW? I did a postal vote last time and I am happy this time to be voting normally. I know there are a few problems with the postal votes.

5. As usual
No one will turn up and fringe parties will do well as a result. The greens, UKIP and the excreable BNP will all gain seats. The U.K populace will then spend the next couple of years whining that Brussels does not represent their views.

We get the government we deserve. We deserve a load of shit and that's what "we'll" elect.

6. The Greens are shitting themselves in
the South-East actually... because RESPECT looks like it might split the vote enough for neither to get a seat (the greens carried their seat in the SOuth-East by 249 votes last time). But otherwise your analysis stands, yes...
