Pull your collective heads out of your collective *ss*s!
To those of you who keep hearkening back to the 1920's for inspiration about how the dems were in worse shape than they are now: "Get real."

This isn't the twenties. These candidates aren't FDR and there isn't a justified popular war on the horizon or a justified popular war a few years in the past. And to tell the truth it was the dems this time who presided over the economic boom.

Comparing these (new) dems to those (old) dems is like trying to argue about athletes from different eras. There are SO many more variables now than there were in the twenties and thirties. The propaganda machine that tells people how to think isn't pro-America as it has been in the past, it is pro-right wing. Add in the internet, terrorism, outsourcing of jobs, free-trade, vote fraud, globalism, global ramifications of intertwined economies, the patriot act........ad nauseum and it is plain that this is an entirely DIFFERENT situation.

That being said, it has only been two and a half years since we were removed from power. Take a deep breat, relax, realize that he may be a one timer and start thinking about how to fix things.

peace, dawgman.

1. Then we need an FDR
...because all of those things basically existed at pronounced phenomena in that period (the internet being analogous to the automobile). The comparison is very apt, and this is the second wave of corporate globalization.

As for 'we' being removed from power only 2.5 years, think again. The Green party exists largely because Brand Democrat decided last decade to switch to conservative economics and shut out most progressives from the decision-making process (and they used loads of corporate money as incentive and tool towards this end). Now we are being told to add right-wing foreign policy to the economics; the second wave of corporate globalization becomes the second wave of American imperialism.

2. I don't think I buy the comparison of the automobile and the internet.
I haven't ever read that the automobile had the impact on the manner in which the world thought and received information. THe world has not been involved in a destructive war that was thought to end all wars. This form of globalization is much different than anything I have read about. American corporations are giving jobs to other countries not just stealing their resources. Their are no external powers that present a real threat to the destruction of the American way of life and system of gov't. Look at most posts about Clinton and his administration and tell me that it wasn't acurrate (more often than not) to say "we."
