CNN-Nader Blames Dems For Pie Attack
I'm watching CNN and Wolf Blitzer just reported that Ralph Nader blamed the Democrats for the pie attack.

Let it go... Ralph....

1. Of course he does.
Edited on Wed Aug-13-03 04:36 PM by tjdee
That's his group of choice.

I guess no one has told him about the Cake brigade, or whatever it's called. Even if ONE Democrat paid them (or however it works), there's no reason for him to blame Dems in general.

Oh well, I guess we don't have his vote in 2004.

The fact that he blamed the Dems for the pie attack demonstates who he thinks his enemies are.

90. My sympathies are probably Green
But I'm also a pragmatist, and I'd rather have the proverbial 'lesser of two evils' than what we've been living with since the beginning of 2001.

I doubt I'd have given Darth Nader my Presidential vote, anyway, but I could definitely see myself voting for Greenies at local levels where they might actually have a chance to make a difference (a positive difference, c.f. the negative difference that old Ralphie ended up bringing to 2000's electoral table).

25. CAMEJO MADE THE SUGGESTION: Here's my mini-transcript
Completely unofficial, coming to you thanks to the miracle of modern technology that is Tivo:

(This was preceded by Wolf's interview of some woman dressed in a ridiculous red hat. I have no idea who she was, but her hat was silly.)

Wolfie: And adding to the circus-like atmosphere surrounding the recall, the former Green Party Presidential candidate, Ralph Nader, got a pie in the face as he was endorsing a fellow party member, Peter Camejo. The pie culprit got away. Camejo suggested Democrats might be behind it, because they feel threatened by the Green Party. Ralph Nader, hit in the face by a pie.

Following Wolfie's comments were a couple replays of Ralphie getting pied. I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Why 5%? $MONEY!$

44. It wasn't a Republican pie!
Ralph gave the GOP 93,000 votes Florida votes. A vast majority of those votes would have gone to Gore. If Gore had tallied 93,538 votes over Bush, the election would have been won. No one will ever convince me that Ralph does bear directly responsibility as a spoiler.

He's lucky he wasn't run-over by a Corvair!

51. Hold on a sec....
didn't St. Ralph say that there's no difference between the Dems and the GOP? How, all of a sudden, can he spot the key difference between the parties - access to baked goods?

Here's another scenario...a disgruntled child of a GM executive, burned by the memory of how agitated St. Ralph made his daddy in the 60's, finally got his revenge. Makes about as much sense as blaming the "Democrats" for the action of one stalwart Biotic Brigader. Got paranoia, St. Ralph?

"He certainly has no reason to think a Republican would do anything like that. The San Francisco Examiner reports that Nader "hurled the pie back, striking a bystander," which serves as a perfect metaphor for Naderite politics"

64. Mihop
Get out your tinfoil ladies and gentleman.

Maybe Ralph had someone throw a pie at him to get some attention. No one is talking about him anymore, and he was at an event to endorse Camejo. I doubt there would be any coverage of this endorsement or Camejo's candidacy if there wasn't something in this event to draw attention to it.

The guy who threw the pie at him got away, and the candidate, Camejo, then blames the Dems for the incident. Since he knows he won't draw votes from the Repubs, he demonizes Dems and picks up a bigger share of the plurality, maybe even wins(hehe). You would think that there might have been some security at this event if they didn't want this to happen.

This has been your pie"tin" moment.

67. Nader shouldn't blame Democrats.
But because he did, it shows that he realizes the anger that a lot of Democrats have for him.

But I think this pie throwing business is risky. I know it's fun and all and it's been happening for a while, but one day it will happen to someone that will get startled and who knows, it may trigger a heart attack or something. You never know.

People should be careful.

68. This was a SETUP! Rove has been planning this for years!
Remember when Bush said, "Make the pie higher!" It was code! It launched a long term pie-in-the-face spec ops mission which included a huge number of deep op greens (in reality they are dbl agent reps): their one goal - a pie in the face of Ralph Nadar. The usual fallout/scapegoat would be the dem party. It worked like a charm.

Oh those sinister bastards!

88. A Democrat did do it!
Obviously this was Clinton's fault!

Why the big nasty brouhaha? Another Ralph I know of would have paused, licked his lips and said "How sweet it is!"

Ralphie boy's a clown, but a humorless clown. No wonder he's looking for work. Not much demand for them nowadays, we've got plenty enough already in office, in journalism, and on tv.

Good bye, Ralph...don't let the door hit your backside as you exit into obscurity...

100. Uh huh. How about it's the Supreme Court or Katherin Harris'
fault? Do you have any evidence that the Democratic Party is behind this attack Ralph, or is this more of your megalomania. No Demoratic would give you the press. You do realize the 3/4 of the press you got was because of the despicable attack? I would never do anything so nice to Ralph as a pie attack. Nor something with such reckless and dangerous implications. I truly regret this attack, but no Democrat I know would do such an irresponsible thing.

102. They think they know beyond a shadow of a doubt who dunit!
Nasa enhanced a video tape and came up with a clear picture of a large white fuzzy arm with long black toenails on it! Police say they picked up a suspect and questioned him, as a direct result of the use of the computer enhanced photo from Nasa! The suspect was then booked and he stated in the presence of his court appointed lawyer, when asked if he hit Mr Nader with the pie, "ROOOWWW ROO OH OH OH ROO ooOH!" Mr White Fang is currently in the custody of the county pound and is being held without bond, until a bond hearing can be arranged!

103. The Whole Pie thing showed us some of the real faults of Nader/Greens
First of all, Nader and many of my fellow greens are delusional to the point of being neurotic. The Dems are trying to hold their party together and keep the state from becoming a public playpen for the Bush Gang. Do you really think Terry McAuliffe would give a shit enough to order out a hit with a fucking pie on Ralph Nader?! The Greens not even a real contender-- all of his voters would go to Arriana anyway. If the DLC were going to smack someone with a pie, it would be Al Franken. Come on, if this were some true Gore/DLC plot that the Naderites are trying to play, it would have been a fucking bat to the knee caps!!! Just as many Dems blame all of the failings of the gelding DLC leadership on Greens, too many greens spend way too much time in a tin foil hat think that the Dems are out to get them. Honestly, the Greens are such an non-factor in this oddball race of media starved musclemen, dimunitive child actors living welfare, out of touch leftist socialite commentators and billionaire porn brokers in gold plated wheelchairs.

Secondly, its shows the Green Party's leadership and many of its core members as a bunch of humourless demagouges who somehow feel above reproach. Do you think Al Gore would have been running around on TV blaming Repubs if some nut smacked him with a cream pie? Fuck no, he would have laughed about and moved on. This is the type of uptight nonsense we would expect from pricks like Karl Rove and Pat Robertson. This is why no one will vote Green beyond the whole Florida fiasco, they're seen (and act) as a bunch of snotty, leftist, hippie killjoys who like to bitch more than they like to make change. Here is a Green who has earned his stripes (ran for office, worked a several local campaigns and sit on serveral community boards) telling his brethren (and their anointed God, Saint Ralph) to ....... lighten up, it was only a cream pie.
