HELLO, FASCISM ....California Recall: The Coup Inside a Circus
"These are the politics of fascism, and we are moving relentlessly in that dreadful direction. Unless, at last, true American patriots with sufficient voices draw the line and say: "This far, and no further." And then proceed to reclaim our Constitution, our rights, and our republic".

California Recall: The Coup Inside a Circus

By Ernest Partridge and Bernard Weiner
Co-Editors, "The Crisis Papers."
August 12, 2003

What seems to be occurring is that the rightwing forces controlling the Republican Party want TOTAL victory, and not just for the upcoming 2004 election. They want to control the direction of the United States, both foreign and domestic, for the foreseeable future, for decades to come. (In the past two-and-a-half years, the country has received only the first taste of their extremist agenda: unilateral foreign adventurism, "pre-emptive" attacks on countries that are not imminent threats, the shredding of Constitutional guarantees of due process, the stealth moves to decimate and eliminate popular social programs, huge tax breaks going to the wealthy and corporations, polluters given free rein, etc. etc.)

To fully implement their agenda, these extremists believe that they must thoroughly neutralize all those who might put up a fight -- not simply to defeat them politically, but rather to effectively DESTROY them -- so that little organized opposition to Bush&Co. policies can get in the way of total control of the political/social/economic apparati in this country.

snip

In short, what is going on here is an attempt to get these large, electoral vote-rich states into the Bush column for 2004 and to the GOP beyond.

And we haven't even gone into detail about the computer-voting scandal, which may well have led to a number of other large states, such as Georgia, going into the Republican column in the 2002 election, thus giving control of the U.S. Senate to the Republicans.
snip

What is happening is a persistent attempt to overturn the outcomes of previous elections by using dirty tricks and changing the rules in midstream.

1. One would have thought

Boxer would have figured this out in time to call the recall off. Did I not remember reading she had vacilated about it. A republican play for the State of California is that hard to figure out. Looks like they may get it too. From a strategic standpoint one would have thought, if the buck doesn't stop with Boxer, someone in the Democratic party would have been one step ahead of this. It seems easy enough to figure.

Somebody doesn't really start talking truth to power soon, I mean without mincing words and implying that all we have to do is get a Democrat in the whitehouse in 2004; hello fascism will not just be an intellectual exercise. We are almost there. If it isn't too late already. Look at how fast this Admin is moving. Unauditable computerized voting, an unusally strange so called sting operation to get missiles into the country with how many thousands missing.

6. How could Boxer have called it off?
What did Feinstein do about it, except agree not to run? What did any of the Dems do about it? What in the hell can we on the East Coast do about it? At least, the Texas Dems are fighting, God Bless their hearts!

2. They're not even trying to disguise their intent . . .
Look at all of the redistricting that has taken place. I just wonder when Americans are going to wake up!

9. Americans waking up?
Don't bet on it!

Even if they do they will be groggy.

And exactly what do you imagine they would do in the event that they did "wake up".

Go to "meet-ups" and seminars?

A towel and a cigarette, please...

THIS is the post I've been waiting for! THIS is the message that should be left on the doorstep of every voter in California! I realize that the mainstream media coverage Arnold is getting is not necessarily reflective of California voters in the real world. But if I could fly over in a blimp with a public address system, I'd say, "Can't you tell you're being gypped? THIS RECALL IS ALL ABOUT THEIR FUTURE, NOT YOURS! They replaced Issa with Schwarzenegger--what more proof do you need?"

7. Weiner and Partridge are dead on.
I posted this on a thread in LBN. I'm going to post it here too. The thread title, since some on that thread didn't "get it" was: PEOPLE, PEOPLE, WAKE UP!

First of all, the way they've got these ballots set up, it's going to be a freakin' NIGHTMARE. It'll make Florida 2000 look like a picnic. There will be a HUGE push for computerized voting over more of the state. HUGE. That means: get ready for another stolen election. Florida was just a dress rehearsal.

They've already begun the back story: The GOP thinks it can take CA and NY in 2004. In the Washington Post in the last several days.

2nd, Arnold knows NOTHING. They Repugs and their corporate plutocrats will OWN California.

Bush will lavish some money or perks of some kind on the state and make the inattentive Californians think either Arnold is a genius or Bush is or both.

Bush will visit CA extensively, the polls will be made to show how popular he and Arnold are, and Bush will take CA in 2004.

WE WILL LOSE CALIFORNIA IN 2004 IF YOU DON'T STOP THIS MADNESS. I'm not a betting woman, but barring unforeseen circumstances (e.g., BUsh dies or gets impeached or CA drops off into the ocean or something equally unlikely), I'm so sure of this outcome I'd bet my LIFE on it.

8. I am beginning to think that we should try to secede.
It's such a nightmare and it's the only solution I can come up with to neutralize all this madness. It would make the recall, the election and everything else going on, moot and done with. The obstacles are tremendous of course and maybe not worth it.

12. When it comes to electronic voting....
Perhaps some new voting equipment is needed:

1. Pencil and paper, to state your choice of candidate.

2. Hammers, to remove the electronic impediment to fair counting of ballots.
