Bush Admin set to screw troops, again.
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 10:37 AM by patmacsf
The San Francisco Chronicle is leading this morning's edition with the news that apparently is being left unreported across the country (http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2003/08/14/MN94780.DTL)

Don "Rummy" Rumsfeld has declared that the Bush Administration wants to allow the Congressionally approved award of $75/month in combat pay and up to $150/month for families suffering from separation duress, to lapse next month when the annual budget closes. Never mind that this is the same Defense Department that hired Cheney's firm to handle housing and other troop support functions that have left our soldiers living crammed into canvas tents in the middle of the desert without air conditioing and rationed to just three liters of water per soldier per day.

Support our troops, not the scum civilian commanders!

1. And they accused Clinton of destroying military readiness!
How many experienced enlistees will NOT be re-upping after this? Especially in NG and Reserve units?

What are they going to do, outsource the Army too?

3. Hadn't you heard? They already have outsourced the Army!
Check out topic # 174742 re privatized soldiers.

For example: Troops already rely on private contractors to maintain 28 percent of all weapons systems. Bush wants to increase this to 50%. but private contractors are free to flee if the situation gets too dangerous, leaving the troops with complex weapons systems they atre not trained to service/repair. There is no Congressional oversight and little legal accountability of private contractors.

It's bidness as usual for W and Chaney and Rumsfeld.

2. I hope the Dems are all over this like stink on excrement
This is an outrage, even for the cold-blooded killers in the White House. I hope the Dems fix this fast, as they fixed the terror futures market. No one can claim that Bush supports our troops after this. I'm starting to be convinced that *he's* unelectable.

BTW, this was a larger than normal headline *above* Ahnuld and followed by a long article inside. This one is big.

4. The troops
have been either brainwashed or intimidated by the mostly rightwing officer corp, most of the older enlisted are completly brain dead and the young enlisted are intimidated by their senior nco's and the co's,its very sad and very undemocratic(but so repugnant) Wake up america .
