Troops in Iraq face pay cut
Washington -- The Pentagon wants to cut the pay of its 148,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, who are already contending with guerrilla-style attacks, homesickness and 120- degree-plus heat.

9. Couldn't there be a legal loophole here?
I don't understand how the military works, but when you sign up, doesn't that constitute a contract? And if you signed up with the understanding that you would get a certain salary, wouldn't the government changing the amount of money you receive in compensation consist of a broken contract? Wouldn't this make it null and void? Couldn't you say bye bye then?

11. It's OK, I've got a "Support our troops" bumper sticker on my giant SUV.
I'm sure that is all the pay they need.
