Rather just kept on. Where is Cheney, he said? Will the prez keep his plans for this huge fund-raiser with so many in the dark, he said?

Cheney on vacation, Bush at a fund-raiser. Andy Card in charge.

Pathetic, but good for CBS!

1. Also asked if there was any word they might cancel.......No
I thought it was interesting just to hear it. Where is Dick Cheney, Why would Andrew card "be in charge" saying that Card wasn't an elected official.

3. I just saw this; here's a mini-transcript
Thanks to Tivo... here's what Dan said, rather dryly, I might add:

"President Bush is on a trip to California, talking to some military people and tonight attending a big fundraiser for his reelection campaign and for Republican political purposes in general. Vice President Cheney, when last heard from, was vacationing in Wyoming.. uhh... as we all have to take from time to time. White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, a very experienced Washington hand and public servant, has been left as the point-man to do whatever it is the federal government needs to do."

Too funny! Dan *really* made a point of showing how even if millions of people are in the dark, Dumbya doesn't care about anything except fundraising. Brilliant!

And then Ted Koppel getting that bizarre crank call. Very weird night so far!

11. Here's the gist of it
On ABC News Tonight, Ted was supposed to talk to some guy from a power station and then the guy kept repeating the same bizarre message while talking to Ted. The really funny part is that it took FOREVER for Ted to realise that it was a crank call and Ted was totally confused by it all. The crank caller kept saying "Please go to Thank You For Taking My Call dot-com." It was hilarious. Ted ain't quick.

Americans really pull together for the sake of humor in a time of crisis, eh? :-)

http://www.thankyoufortakingmycall.com/

This site is dedicating to spreading word about the phenomenon of the phone "goof". Sometimes television shows have 'open lines' and take live calls from the viewing audience. This is an opportunity for a regular person to interact with professional television figures in real time. Interesting reactions sometimes occur when the hosts are put in silly or uncomfortable positions.
