Cheney on Vacation? Isn't Bush on Vacation too?
On CBS tonight, Dan Rather asked the CBS correspondent where Dick Cheney was and he responded he was on vacation in Colorado. My question is, should the president and vice-president go at the same time? Whose running the shop?

1. Ayup
Both are on holiday (per Rather).

Let's go claim the White House!

Peacefully, of course.

2. Outstanding Non-leadership
Particularly if there is looting as happened in NYC 1977, it is going to look very bad that Bush was doing a fundraiser.

5. Captain Picard and Will Riker
Would the Captain and First Officer of the Enterprise (Next Gen) BOTH go on an away mission at the same time?

8. If Bush were Picard
He would have sold out the Enterprise to the Romulans by now and would be back in his vineyards.

But this isn't likely.
After all, in a world without a need for money, how would Bush and Cheney find a reason to live?

10. Bohemian Grove
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 07:39 PM by LisaM
which is apparently a euphemism for snipe hunting in Wyoming. And Dan Rather probably knows that full well.

I wonder when Bohemian Grove 2001 was?

20. I am still laughing at that
Diamond Dan seemed dumbfounded - "Andrew Card? - where the fu?? is Cheney? What about Powell or Ridge? We've got a potential crisis and the Executive branch is AWOL? Is Bush still going to goto his fund-raiser? (As if reporters and firemen and cops are not having their vacations or time-off cut short - but not the guys at the top. They rule - they do not serve.)
Every candidate and Democratic leader needs to be just as dumbfounded and outraged.

18. Bush is still in charge
Presidents, especially the less intelligent ones like Bush don't do as much as one might think. Basically vacation means he's working on new policies, not signing legislation (congress is on vacation as well), and not making any decissions unless they are urgent. His cabinet and other heads of government are pretty self sufficent and can make their own decissions (they do it even when he is working). His job right now is just to fly around and make speeches. Plus Vice Presidents aren't put in charge unless the president is unable to serve.
