Does Anyone Really Think It Was Lighting
Edited on Thu Aug-14-03 08:07 PM by mot78
that struck the NE power grid? I live in suburban NYC, and we had nothing but clear skies. Either it was Al Qaida, or BushCO has done it deliberately to boost his (and local Republican's) approval ratings. Then all of the right wing talking heads will come onto Fox, and do another sappy report on how people admire Bush for handling this crisis.

"live in suburba NYC," According to the Canadian government it was lightening in Quebec, don't think you'd see THAT in NYC...

2. The lightning theory has already been discredited
No lightning anywhere in the region of Niagra.

Now Canada says it's a Con Ed fire.

9. We should find out who has investments in Honda
This time next week everybody will have bought the Homeland Security recommended portable generators.

Better get yours now before there's a run on 'em.

15. Homeland Security would never endorse a Japanese product.
That would be unpatriotic.

4. Geesh! I just put my tinfoil hat away in the closet!!
Its possible that it was done deliberately. I truly doubt that Al Queda was involved. And I cant see how this would boost bu$h's ratings.
Perhaps an environmentist terrorist organization?? One of those groups did take credit for burning down a San Diego apartment complex under construction last week.
:tinfoilhat:

14. It gets the Energy bill passed? and fakes good Homeland Security
Since the grid is private and Homeland Security has nothing to do.

But as Bush said - Andy Card - his aid - is in charge of America and will handle the blackout - so he can go get $1 million more in bribes at his "dinner" tonight.

16. Not ELF's style
They go for things like car lots and houses under construction -- nothing that anyone is currently living in or using. Their actions are also very precisely directed at targets of interest. I can't see them ever pulling something this large and generalized -- or with this much potential of causing harm.

11. UMMMM, Could you please explain why.....
.....three 'experts' in a row made themselves available to (GE)MSNBC shortly after the power failure started to talk about the 'crisis' and prefaced their remarks with the same phrase about 'The US has the greatest MILITARY in the world but our power system is antiquated?
Another 'trifecta' or do you think this might have been a setup to 'Enron' the north-east? :)

I might be paranoid but I remember after the last 2 times this happened there were supposed to have been safeguards built in to keep this from happening again! :( :wtf:

Also see, Power bigwig just said on CNN--RULES WERE BROKEN!!!!!
