The "Reagan Bounce" seems to have failed. What next?
Although Ronald Reagan and his widow received glowing press this past week, it seems that little of it has rubbed off on the "Uniter, not the Divider."

Karl Rove has to be plotting something now, but with Clinton's book coming out, that will take up most of the press' attention up until the Dem convention. Then we'll have the convention, then the Olympics.

My rambling point is this: what are these boys plotting in the proverbial cigar-smoke filled room to get the attention back on Bush?

1. The Reagan Resurrection bounce
His tomb will mysteriously open and only a casket and shroud with Reagan's holy image burned into it will be left. People around the country will then see him everywhere. Finally, the story of his life written by four of Bush's staffers will be added to the official canon of the bible.

5. You Forgot Where His Transfiguration Appears To Peggy Noonan
and tounges of flame appear around Cheney, Rumsfeld, Wolfowitz and Perle's heads... after which they disperse to speak babble throughout the land.

6. Reagan Rises Again
Actually they're trying to suppress the story of Reagan's resurrection. Seems he came back from the dead as a maundering 93-year old who still doesn't know where he's at. Now they don't know what to do with him.

16. Better yet ... the Bush/Zombie Reagan 2004 campaign.
Cheney has already been dropped and Reagan's corpse is being zombizied.

10. Won't happen.
Rudy is pro-choice. Bushler's base won't turn out for a pro-choicer with more dirty laundry than Clinton.

Rudy wouldn't even be able to pull his own state.

3. I think Nancy's performance upstaged any bounce that was...
...supposed to happen. Wasn't that dramatic when her children rushed to pry her off Ronnie's coffin.

4. I think their new plan is to...
... draw parallels between * and Raygun. The one that I have noticed the most is Bushler's "optimism" something that they credit to Raygun as well. If you noticed, hardly any article about Raygun in the last week mentioned his optimism. They were setting the stage. The news ads for Shrub that came out this week talk about his optimistic approach to government and Kerry's pessimism.

Also in Shrubya's eulogy every characteristic that he mentioned about Raygun were the same characteristics that Bushco try to assign to W.

8. I'm guessing they'll get some mileage out of Iraq
When we turn "full ownership" over to Iraq on July 1, Bush will likely claim some sort of victory. There was something in the news about Saddam Hussein being turned over to the Iraqis at that time also. I know both of these events could backfire badly on Bush, but the press could also make it look like America is moving beyond Iraq. We'll see.
